Summary: Kay's breakdown triggers one of her own. Where does she end up? Why, in Brian's arms, of course.
She was well and truly drunk.
She’d alternated between crying and laughing hysterically. There was nothing funny about the situation, and Kay had run off somewhere hours ago, which she wasn’t sure if she were relieved or disappointed about. She loved Kay, more than she’d ever loved anyone outside of family before. Finding out that Kay was broken… She didn’t know how to deal with that.
So she drank. She drank until she was well and truly drunk.
Once she was drunk, all she could think was that she didn’t want to be alone. Mandy had her own issues to deal with and certainly didn’t need to be bothered by hers, too. If she were honest with herself, there was only on person she wanted to be around right now. He would hold her and be there for her however she needed, she knew.
Before she could convince herself that going to Brian drunk wouldn’t be a good idea, she pulled out her wand and apparated. She knocked on his door, rather more enthusiastically than she realized, and he answered after a moment, wearing only a pair of sweats low on his hips. Not that it mattered; she’d seen him in much less than that before.
She held up the bottle she’d brought along. “Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum,” she said, chuckling briefly before falling into his arms and bursting into tears again. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d cried so much. But he caught her and ushered her inside and settled her against him on the couch.
“Shhh, love. What is it? What’s got you so upset?” he murmured as he brushed her hair away from her face. “And drunk,” he added.
She clung to him. “I can’t,” she whispered. “I don’t want to think.”
