Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 Review

Sooo, I finally saw Deathly Hallows pt 1 yesterday, and Oh. My. God! It was absolutely brilliant. So freaking amazing. I seriously wouldn't be able to express how much I loved that movie. I had some serious doubts as to whether they would finally make a winner or if it would be a flop like they've all been since PoA's major fail (GoF not included ( Read more... )

What gets me is the fact that I saw Hermione dancing with Krum in the HP Special that was shown the Sunday after it's release, his picture is in the Sticker book for DH pt I. Why cut him?

Hee! I jumped the second time I went to see it as well when Nagini springs forth and attacks Harry... was much more prepared the third time :D

I'm not sure about the Malfoy dungeon shinanigans, either. Having said that, Wormtail choking himself may have cranked the rating up a notch. I did laugh at Dobby's reply to Bella though, that was genius!

I cried when Dobby died - there is no hope for me I shall weep without censure when Snape gets bitten.

I loved the retelling of the Three Brothers. On all three occasions the cinema went deathly quiet as the tale was told great animation and Emma's voice is pitch perfect to captivate both kids and adults.

Really loved it, J want's to go back and see it again over Christmas break.

I loved it, too. So freaking much! I'd love to go see it again, but I don't know if I'll be able to in theaters. We'll see. Now I'm just really excited for July to get here so I can see Part 2!

I'm not much of a crier in movies. Hedwig made me teary, but Dobby's just made me sad. I have no idea how I'll react to Snape, but I shall always insist that he doesn't actually die. He's too smart for that. <3

Yes. Severus. Too clever by far to die.

I really liked the added bits of humor thrown in. The book is so dark that it needed something to break the tension. All the actors did a great job portraying that. (I'm really glad they changed the Ginny kiss from angry!Ron to winking!George.)

Yes, there was totally a Harry/Hermione vibe going on, what with the dancing in the tent then that kiss! Oh, my! There's going to be a huge influx of people to that ship, I'll bet.

The only part I thought was ridiculous was the chase scene on Hagrid's motorbike. It was just too much, what with Hagrid trying to dodge cars on the expressway and Voldy knocking over electrical wires. So silly.

Oh yes, the added humor was great. As far as H/Hr shippers go, I don't think it's going to be a huge influx of people to that ship as much as the H/Hr shippers coming back to fandom. I know years ago when HBP was coming out, JKR really insulted the H/Hr shippers with that infamous anvil comment, so I think the movie is going to bring them back.

I actually liked the chase scene, although it was a bit much considering they're trying to be inconspicuous. I just wish they'd done the safe houses, cause I wanted to meet Ted and Andromeda. Oh well.

I was not in fandom at that time, so what was the anvil comment?

Oh dear, I couldn't quote it and it would take me a while to find it, but I'll look for it and get back to you. It was in an interview with Emerson from Mugglenet and Melissa from The Leaky Cauldron the day after HBP was released.
