Okay, I have heard a story of a fire department in Tennessee failing to respond to a house fire and only positioning apparatus (i. e. fire trucks) to protect surround homes that had paid their dues (read protection money). I thought being covered by emergency services was something of a right in every developed country. I mean.. if the fire department can pull this, what stops the city from pulling this on paramedic/police coverage?

So you got shot? Oh, let me see.. nope, didn't pay the fee, sorry.

My thoughts exactly. What this amounts to is extortion which is illegal in most developed nations. It's not even a Republican or Democrat issue which the video makes it out to be. It is a "This is wrong" issue. I would have quit that department right then and there and will if mine ever becomes that way. We wonder why firefighters are ridiculed? Departments like that are why! :(

Every firefighter on that department needs to be fired and the department chief arrested and tried for criminal negligence, but I would bet that citizens of that county have to pay "protection money" to the sheriff/police, too!

In my county, you do have to pay an emergency services tax and you do have to pay the hospitals for ambulance services, but, we respond even if you don't pay those things.
