Drabble - Sam/Rosie, Sam/Frodo - The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
So, this is a weird little Rosie-drabble that I've been pondering since I reread The Return of the King and it started beating insistantly at my brain when I saw the movie for the *coughfifthcough* time.
We’re happy, Sam and I. Sam is a good Hobbit, and we have a good life. Sam doesn’t speak of his adventures save in stories for the children. He smiles at me and wraps my hair round his finger. No other voice calls his name, nor arms hold him close, nor fingers mark his skin. I can pretend I never had to share. And each morning Sam looks to the West and whispers words meant for another and his pain grieves me so that, for a mere moment, I wish Frodo had not gone. More, I wish Sam had stayed.
