Snippet - No Pairing

I found this incredibly funny. Could just be me, though.

Hmmm. Oh yeah. This is nice. Lance smiled to himself in the darkness. Warm and cozy and oh-so-quiet. Yeah. I could stay here a while.

Stretching his arms as far downward as he could, Lance could barely brush his fingers over the carpet. Perfect. He hummed softly and let his whole body sag. His fingers bumped the floor again.

I’m glad a I bought a house with high-ceilinged closets. I mean, it was tough modifying this one. On the other hand, I’m glad I’m fairly short. I can’t even imagine how high the ceilings would have to be for Justin to do this. Sheesh. Lance wriggled his toes and arched his back slightly, setting his entire body swaying gently.

Now . . . where was I? Oh yes. Negotiations with Time-Warner . . .

Abruptly the door to the closet swung open. Startled, Lance flung an arm over his eyes.

“GAH!” he shouted, turning his head away from the sudden influx of light.

“Where the hell were you, man?” a voice demanded from the vicinity of his ankles. Lance looked up. Justin glared down at him.

“I’ve been right here since lunch. Why?” he replied.

“You missed the movie awards, man! You SAID you’d be there with Joey and you MISSED it and . . . what are you doin’ in the closet?” Justin said, eyeing Lance confusedly.

“Hanging upside down,” Lance explained lowering his arm from his face to gesture at himself.

“Yeah. I see that. Anyway, you missed it, man. You said you’d come,” Justin complained dropping down to sit cross-legged in the doorway. Lance reached out to pat his face.

“Ahh, J, I’m sorry. Joey was supposed to call me because I don’t have a clock in here. I didn’t even know it was that late. I’m really sorry, Justin,” he said. Justin shrugged one shoulder. Lance paused a moment.

“So, how’d it go?” he asked.

“It was good. I think it was funny. You’ll have to let me know. I taped it, so you can watch it later. Hey! I can watch it with you!” Justin exclaimed, brightening. Lance chuckled.

“That’s cool. Gimme another fifteen minutes and I’ll be down?” he offered. Justin nodded and stood.

“S’a deal. You want I should close the door again?” he asked.

“Please,” Lance replied. Justin reached for the nob.

“ ‘Kay. Seen ya in a few,” he said. He started to close the door - jerked it back open.

“Oh hey, Lance?” he said. Lance raised an eyebrow inquiringly.

“What, exactly, are you doing hanging upside down in the closet?” Justin demanded. Lance regarded Justin soberly.

“Plotting world domination, of course,” he said. Justin nodded slowly.

“Oh, of course” he drawled. Justin shut the door. “Hanging upside down in the closet, plotting world domination. Of course he is . . .” Justin’s voice trailed away.

Lance settled back into the comfortable darkness. Well, what else would I be doing in here? Really.
