It was a Saturday, the sun was peaking from Jonghyun's big window and brighting things in the huge room. The wind slowly floated in, and Jinki enjoyed the breeze very much, it was warm yet it was cooling in a way that was hard to explain. The two were sitting across from eachother, discussing topics about where they should go that afternoon.
''The park?'' Jinki questioned, his head tilting slightly, and his eyes widening at the suggestion.
''The park.'' Jonghyun repeated, grinning at the other, and Jinki couldn't help but smile back at him, his smile was just contagious!
''Hmm..'' Jinki was really childish even though he might not show it to Jonghyun at times, and he didn't have much complaints about going to the park, so he happily nodded after thinking for a while.
''What would we do there?'' Jinki asked, and Jonghyun thought for a little, he didn't think that far..
''We can have a picnic..'' Jonghyun tried, and Jinki's eyes lit up, he always wanted to go on a picnic. His parents were always working busily when he was younger, leaving him by himself with a babysitter who was the lazy type, and never took him anywhere. He read a lot, reading about happy friends or families going on picnics, and going to parks together, he envied the made up characters.
Jonghyun noticed Jinki's eyes that immediately sparkled and widened, and Jinki nodded, beaming. Jonghyun wasn't really the blushing type, he always tried to keep himself composed to look cool, yet when he saw Jinki smile real wide, and his eyes turned in to pretty cresents, and his cheeks a pretty pink, he couldn't help but think about how adorable the older looked right then, he felt some weird sensation in his stomach, butterflies. He only shrugged it off, and busied himself with pulling Jinki downstairs to go prep for the picnic
--
''I like it, you know red is one of my favorite colors..'' Jonghyun said, referring to Jinki's bright red hoodie, while they were walking to the park, Jonghyun suggested it.
''Really?'' Jinki replied, blushing happily, adjusting the hood of his hoodie pleasantly, he suddenly doesn't regret letting Kibum pick out his outfit anymore.
Jonghyun hummed in response, and they stopped waiting for all the cars to pass before they crossed the road, they watched their surroundings and Jinki's curious, honey-brown eyes stopped on a family of small cats, he smiled lovingly as they trotted on the white sidewalk, but his eyes widened when he saw the smallest was running in the street.
''No!'' Jinki exclaimed when he saw a car was going at full speed and would hit the cat if he didn't do anything, he looked at Jonghyun who was questioning his actions, and he went for it. He ran, he ran in to the street determined to save the small kitten, despite the fact that Jonghyun was yelling out for him worriedly.
Jinki scooped up the kitten happily, who was squirming in his arms, and for a moment he forgot about the car that was near the two, and Jonghyun noticed quickly, and felt cold sweat falling down his forehead. No!
''JINKI!''
--
''Oof!'' Jonghyun and Jinki fell on the sidewalk across the one they were previously on. Jonghyun had to think quickly, he ran in to the street just moments before, and grabbed Jinki, who was surprised and pushed him towards the sidewalk, and he tripped on his shoelace landing there safely too. The small kitten squirmed out of Jinki's protective arms, scampering to go with the rest of his family.
''A-Are you okay?'' Jinki asked, sitting up and untangling himself from Jonghyun who was still laying down trying to calm his racing heart.
''Are you okay?'' Jonghyun repeated, sitting up too, ''I should be asking you that!'' Jonghyun exclaimed, getting up and lending out a hand to help the other up.
Jinki gingerly took it, and as soon as he got up Jonghyun pulled him in a bone-crushing embrace, he gasped a little, shocked. ''J-Jonghyun..'' he mumbled, muffled by Jonghyun's jacket, and Jonghyun just wrapped his arms around the other even tighter.
''I was scared Jinki..'' Jonghyun finally said, and Jinki's eyes widened, ''Why did you have to do that..? You could of got hurt, I could of done it, if you weren't lucky..'' he trailed off, and Jinki sniffed, he cared so much.
''I'm sorry..'' Jinki apologized, and Jonghyun only shook his head, his hair brushing against Jinki's as he moved it, it was his fault, he didn't stop Jinki.
Jonghyun was about to say more, then he realized what he was doing and quickly pulled back, scratching his neck awkwardly, which he has been doing much these days. When he pulled back, he felt kind of empty, and Jinki left a tingly sensation that probably won't go away.
''Sorry..'' he muttered, and Jinki only blushed and looked down at his shoes, rubbing his clothed arms, only shaking his head. It's not like he didn't enjoy the hug, he actually loved it, Jonghyun's scent was kind of.. special, a scent that was addicting and pleasing, and he liked it very much.
''Yeah..So..Um.. Park, yeah.'' Jonghyun says pulling his hands from his neck, and Jinki nods, the moment they had before stored in their minds as they continued their short journey to the park.
--
They walked for a while and they finally reached a big park, it was afternoon on a sunny day, so naturally there was lots of kids roaming and sprinting around the place with big grins on their faces, and parents watching with worried eyes. Couples walking around the lake nearby, and some elderly people feeding pigeons and some random people all around the place.
''Let's eat first,'' Jonghyun suggested, and Jinki nodded following the younger boy to an emptier side of the park, and when they got there they reached a dilemma.
''You forgot the picnic basket?!'' Jinki exclaims, turning to Jonghyun when they finally realized that they don't have the basket filled with foods, treats, and drinks they prepared about an hour before.
''Uh.. Yeah..'' Jonghyun mumbles, and Jinki sighs sadly, so much for a picnic.. Jonghyun felt immediately guilty, and Jinki pouted.
''I worked really hard on the fruit tarts..'' Jinki mumbles, and Jonghyun frowns too, it was all his fault! They stood awkwardly for a bit, then Jonghyun came up with a good plan.
''Listen, what about you stay here and I go on home really quick to get it, I'll be back soon, I promise.'' Jonghyun tried, looking at Jinki's face with determined eyes,
''What about we just go buy something around here..'' Jinki suggests, protesting, and Jonghyun only shook his head.
''Trust me, I'll be right back, alright?'' Jonghyun said and before Jinki could protest again he already ran to get to his house, he sighed and turned to the lake, watching the water move a little with the wind.
--
I was thinking of taking this part out but.........
It's been about eight minutes and Jinki was still at the park, watching a ladybug by his feet trot across the grass, he was admiring the nice red shell of the small insect, and suddenly he heard feet approaching him, his eyes lit up as he lifted his head, only to be disappointed that it's not Jonghyun, he sighed and turned toward the lake, only to be tapped on the shoulder.
''Excuse me, Miss..'' the stranger says in a joking tone, and Jinki turns around curiously, staring at three tall men towering over him, and fear quickly came over him, the one in the middle, which he assumed was the leader talked again.
''Oh, you're a guy, I could of sworn you looked like a girl from behind with those thighs, am I right? Am I right?'' he cackled, and the two other men howled, and Jinki frowned, getting mad. He did NOT look like a girl!
Jinki started stepping back slowly to get away from the creepy men, but the shortest one grabbed his wrist tightly and smirked at him, the fear returned to his body as his eyes met with the taller man, where was Jonghyun?
''Where are you going?'' he said, his deep voice sending shivers down Jinki's spine.
''L-Let me go..'' Jinki squeaked, his words barely escaping him, and they just cackled some more, and Jinki frowned, his nose scrunching up in annoyance.
''S-Stop..'' he cried out as the man squeezed his wrist harder, why was this happening?
''How about.. no.'' The tallest said, trying to be cool, but the others laughed anyway, and started pulling Jinki who was trying to grab kick them but having no use.
''Help!'' he whimpered as he was being dragged, away from the nice, warm, reassuring spot at the park.
''He said, to let him go!'' A familiar voice called, all their heads whipped back, Jonghyun!
''Who's this? Your little boyfriend? He just looks like a lost puppy!'' one of them called, and Jinki blushed, and Jonghyun just basically.. growled at them, and wasted no time pulling Jinki away from them with all his strength and kicking them away.
''What's it to you? What if I was his boyfriend? Either way it doesn't give you a right to put your dirty hands on him, so don't touch him! Scram if you want to make it out here alive!'' Jonghyun yelled, and the three men got to their feet and ran away quickly, and Jonghyun and Jinki watched them until they were far and disappeared in the distance.
Jinki sighed in relief, feeling overwhelmed as his arms dropped to his sides, his wrist a red with finger prints, and Jonghyun turned to him worried, setting the basket down.
''I'm so sorry Jinki.. I keep.. I keep failing you, bad things could of happend to you today.. I should of.. God, I'm an idiot. Plus I bet your wrist hurts really bad, It's all my fault..'' Jonghyun put his face in his hands, and groaned, he felt so bad, 'Jinki was in so much danger today, he probably won't hang out with me again' he thought bitterly.
Jinki gathered up all the little courage in his body, and removed Jonghyun's hands from his face and replacing them with his own, cupping his face and looking deep in his big brown, eyes.
''I-It wasn't your fault.. It's mine, I don't think enough, and I'm not strong enough. You didn't expect this to happen.. So cheer up? I don't like to see you sad. Plus my wrist is fine, really.. Just a bruise, smile, Jonghyun!'' Jinki tries, his face a red as he averted his eyes after he finished talking, and quickly removed his hands, muttering apologies, embarrassed.
''Don't blame it on yourself!" Jonghyun finally says, after recovering from what just happend, he was 100 percent sure that he thought Jinki was totally adorable.
''Well, you shouldn't blame it on yourself either!'' Jinki fights back, frowning slightly, and crossing his arms.
''Okay, okay, it's no one's fault!'' Jonghyun says, after they were childisly fighting and forgetting the real reason why they were fighting, and Jinki just nodded, and turned his attention to the picnic basket resting next to the tree.
''Food?'' Jonghyun asks, and Jinki beams at him already happily walking over to the basket, and Jonghyun smiled, and went over too and like that, they enjoyed the rest of the day.
--
''I had really fun today..'' Jinki says as they were standing outside Jinki's house, looking up at Jonghyun's eyes with a satisfied, genuine smile on his face, his voice trailed off slowly, he didn't want to leave!
If you don't go for it, your feelings will be crushed in the end.
''Me too, we should do this again sometime soon,'' Jonghyun replied, matching his smile, and they stared at eachother for a bit, both thinking the same things.
''Yeah.. Thanks for taking me home too, It's pretty far from that icecream place we went to, so, it means a lot..'' Jinki said after a moment of silence.
''It was nothing really, it's late anyway it would be wrong to send you home in the dark,'' Jonghyun only answered.
''What about you?'' Jinki asked worriedly, maybe he should of just went home alone.
''My house is close anyway, don't worry about it!'' Jonghyun exclaimed, and Jinki only nodded quietly, and dropped his gaze to his feet, things were getting awkward.
''Well, then, I'll see you at school Monday!'' Jonghyun said, and turned to leave, Jinki's heart raced, he had to, he had to, and he will.
Jinki grabbed his wrist, and Jonghyun turned around about to ask what was wrong, but Jinki took a deep breath, and came closer to Jonghyun quickly, and pressed a chaste kiss to his cheek.
''B-Bye!'' Jinki cried out embarrassed, face red as he sprinted in to his house, full speed, leaving Jonghyun's cheek tingling, and a pink tint coming to his own face, he literally floated home, questioning his unsure feelings.
--
Minho spit out his ramen, Taemin squirted out his milk, and Kibum choked on his coffee.
''You did WHAT?'' They all cried out in unison, it was the next day after Jinki's little kiss, and he felt completely embarrassed about it so he decided to meet up with his friends, and after explaining it they all reacted widly.
''I just.. I been watching dramas lately and.. It always ended up turning out that way. It wasn't anything intimate, I guess I went too far, oh gosh..'' Jinki groans, realizing that he was rambling and he sounded like an idiot, it was dumb!
It was quiet, but then Kibum started clapping and smiling at Jinki, the younger two clapped two, grinning at the oldest.
''I didn't know you had it in you!'' Taemin exclaims, excitedly.
''I thought he would make the first move..'' Minho mused quietly, and Kibum and Taemin nodded along with him.
''You obviously learned well, Jinki!'' Kibum finally says, and Jinki watches the ice swirl in his water a little as they slowly melt, and he sighs deeply.
''He's probably grossed out..'' Jinki mumbles sadly, and the other three exchange glances.
''I don't think he was, hyung, I don't even like you that way yet I wouldn't be mad if I got a kiss from you,'' Minho admits, and Kibum frowns at Minho.
''Yah, what the heck?'' Kibum says, clearly jealous, but Minho was a bit oblivious.
''What?''
''Well you ju-''
''Save the lover's quarrel for later!'' Taemin cried out at the older two, and they both just blushed, and Kibum tried to deny it while Minho was just silently staring at the table, Taemin was just giggling and Jinki just remained in his thoughts.
--
''Sorry!'' was the first thing that came out of Jinki's mouth when Jonghyun entered their stall on Monday, and Jonghyun immediately knew what he was talking about it because ever since it happend, he couldn't keep it out of his mind.
''I.. Uh.. I didn't know what I was thinking and you probably thought that was.. pretty weird. I'm sorry.'' Jinki explained, and Jonghyun only quietly closed the stall door behind him, and only turned to grin at Jinki.
''It's okay, really! I actually liked it, a lot.. We're just friends.. anyway.'' Jonghyun admits, and Jinki's heart skipped probably more than just a beat, then it felt like it broke out of his chest, he looked down just to make sure. His heart returned to it's place, and raced as he went red, and embarrassed. Jonghyun liked the kiss. Jonghyun liked his kiss. A lot.
''T-That's.. That's a relief,'' Jinki manages out, his voice a tiny squeak but on the inside he's squealing and jumping around happily, and it was the same for Jonghyun, who only denied his feelings, Jinki probably didn't like him that way, so why was he so nervous?
Jonghyun hummed in response, and bit in his sandwich and Jinki did the same, them both glancing at eachother time to time, yet immediately looking away when they locked eyes.
''Next time, we should try it on the lips.''
''W-What?!''
