Delicious Add-on and Firefox 4

One of our editors who uses Firefox 4 wasn't able to install the Delicious Bookmarks add-on so I did a bit of research and I thought I'd pass on what we've found so far. It seems like there's three options for Firefox 4 users at the moment.

1. You can install an old version of Firefox (e.g. Firefox 3.6) alongside Firefox 4. It's pretty easy to do Read more... )

For some reason, doing #3 works fine... until I restart firefox. Then, it resets itself to true so the second time I close and then start it again, delicious is once again gone. Very annoying. I don't know if it's just me, or if it's now an Issue.

The new AVOS-made extension works like a dream for me, autosuggesting and completing tags and everything. You should let them know about the bug at support@avos.com -- I'd say the new extension is the best shot at a lasting solution, anyway.

All in all AVOS stepping in has been a massive improvement in my quality of life, because my account used to be linked to my Google account, which meant I got logged out every single time I closed my browser. It was such a relief to be able to turn my account into an old skool one and stay. the fuck. logged. in! :)

I installed the Add-on Compatibility Reporter and haven't had any problems using the Delicious Add-on with Firefox 4.

This is what I did to be able to use Delicious again. As per the site:

From the menus select Help > Troubleshooting information
On this new tab, near the top, you’ll see a field called Profile Directory. Click the button in the field to launch Finder (File Explorer for Windows).
In the window which has popped up navigate to the extensions folder. Inside that should be another folder named “{2fa4ed95-0317-4c6a-a74c-5f3e3912c1f9}”. Inside this is a file called install.rdf
Open install.rdf in any plain text editor.
Around line 8 you should see some XML which looks like this: em:maxVersion="4.0b3pre" />
Update this to em:maxVersion="5.0" /> (See we changed “4.0b3pre” to “5.0″)
Save the file and restart Firefox.
Boom. The delicious extension will now work.

I am just going to stick with 3.6 as long as possible :p And maybe think about it once all my add-ons are updated.

especially until the right mouse click button is "fixed" (which has nothing to do with delicious)
