I'm not sure I'm supposed to bend that way...

So I decided to take up yoga again...

I've been doing yoga off and on for about the last 10 years. However, for the last several years, it's been more off than on. Let me tell you: getting back into it? Is painful.

My gym membership entitles me to a bunch of free classes, including yoga. Since we are insanely busy at work, and I'm still under doctor's orders to decrease my stress levels, I decided to join my coworker (who goes to the same gym) and try out the yoga.

It was an experience.

I've taken classes before, but the teacher to those was a lot more laid back. *This* teacher is bit more intense--and kind of strange. I'm thinking that all that folding herself into funny positions did something to her. However, she's like 50 and in much, much better shape than I am, so who am I to argue?

The class was interesting. Many of the positions are both somewhat painful and more than a little obscene. It's probably a good thing that I go to an all women gym 'cause the boys would definitely be getting eyefuls during this class.

I need to be careful with some of the positions since I suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome in my right wrist and I have a bad back. (Which I haven't thrown out in nearly six months! Progress! I was throwing it out literally every month last year, and trust me, it's excruciating.)

I feel better though. I did a little cardio and a little weight-training on top of the yoga, and to my surprise, didn't hurt much at all the next day. All in all, I think it was a good experience that I'm going to repeat tomorrow.

Wish me luck.
