Well, I'm going against my better judgement and going to attempt to make a cake. Yes, cake- right out of my 70's Betty Crocker cookbook. I have Darlins practice today for the first time in forever, and we're all bringing food. The mandolin players birthday was yesterday, so I thought a cake would be fun. I'll probably bring beer or wine too

I think it'd be ok without the nuts and raisins. I always leave stuff like that out of muffins and they turn out fine.

Well, I found a bunch of pecans, and crushed them up and threw them in... if I have to have nuts, those are way better then walnuts I think. About to put it in the oven... crossing my fingers!

Do you have any evaporated milk? or Yogurt? even sour cream can substitute for milk in a cake recipe.
I would think you could leave out the raisins and nuts as long as it's sweet enough and not depending on the raisins for sweetness.
