I am in New York

So, I went to Bluestockings, the feminist bookshop yesterday (I'm pretty sure it was yesterday, my sense of time is all out of whack, possibly due to travelling alone, possibly due to SO MUCH FUN) and I was talking to the cute redhead behind the till (I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to say that since she has a girlfriend. Platonic cuteness, yes?) and ( Read more... )

I love Bluestockings - and not just because they let me read there when I did my last NY trip.

I still periodically meet cool people and swap LJs - not all of us went away.

No, I'd like to think the best of the community stayed. But the automatic urge to check if someone has an LJ doesn't seem to happen to me anymore. But this may also be because I'm no longer at university.

Excellent!

You poor thing. Unfortunately, I was investigating Brighton Beach & its fascinating Russian shops today with my friend Lawrence, and then I was easing my melodeon withdrawal by playing with his one-rower. :) Tomorrow: upstate for the Renn Faire. I hope to purchase the tiny trebuchets I forwent last year. What a silly mistake.

I'm so cross that I have to go back Sunday. I'm not nearly done with this trip. There are so many more things I wanted to do, and people I wanted to hang out with.

I suspect pictures will be what I post on Wednesday when I am avoiding doing my packing to move house. :)

You know, it still happens, the LJ swapping thing. I think it just came back in vogue. Maybe it's becauuuse of Dreamwidth. I met like four people at Comic-Con I LJ swapped with. It was awesome because I haven't done that in years. And yet it happened numerous times over here. Awesome.

I'm glad it still happens! Clearly it's just me.

One year I'll get to Comicon...

But it's like it was gone for real and then it came back again! Like the '90s.
