For those who know Asimov and Alex Proyas

Jul 02, 2004 12:32

Hello, there!

I received this mail because I belong to an Alex Proyas bulletin board. I will be e-mailing my opinion back to the guy, but I figured I could help him by posting his question elsewhere and getting other people's opinions. So, if you wish, answer here, and I'll forward your answers to him, 'k? Thanks!

Would it have been better if the guy had said "I'm from CANADA"? Pfft! Happy belated Canada Day and all blah blah blah, kid.

No, just anywhere but australia or new zealand would have been better.
sorry, I'm selectively prejudiced, and I'm not patriotic, but thanks anyways, I didn't stand at the fireworks when they played the national anthem *waves black flag of poseuredome and listens to lady of the flowers*

Yeah, strike a pose, you petit poseur, you...

I'm even less patriotic than you, by the way, 'cause nationality is just a geographical accident and all that. Blah.

I read most of Asimov's books and short stories, I also saw Dark City and The Crow, two of Proyas' movies. To be honest, I really don't associate Proyas' dark, brooding style with Asimov's stories, that aren't really like that. Maybe they relate more to M. Night Shyamalan's style (Signs) without being that obvious (the glasses of water throughout the whole movie).

What can he bring to I, Robot? I don't know. For what I've seen on the trailers, the script for the movie is completely different to the story. So I can't really relate Proyas to what I know of I, Robot. I hope Proyas makes a good movie in the smart sense, not just some pop-corn blockbuster that has no substance.

Muax.
