HISTORY
Up to now, nothing is known about Senji's past. The only hinted thing in the series is a picture of the day when he was brought to Deadman Wonderland showing him in a policeman suit and with various bruises on his face and his hands, signs of a fight? Hopefully it'll be explained soon.

Anyway, Senji is introduced as the first "Deadman", people capable of using the "Branch of Sin"- a special kind of power that allows them to use the blood as a weapon- , whom the main character, Igarashi Ganta, meets in the prison. Immediately after destroying a security robot that was chasing the protagonist with his Branch of Sin, Senji challenges Ganta to a fight without giving him a possibility of refusing it.
Their fight is quickly interrupted by the Deadman Wonderland's security and postponed to the day after during a deathmatch called "Carnival Corpse" held in the G-Ward, the place where people found with the Branch of Sin abilities live.

Their second fight ends -despite his experience with the Branch of Sin- with Senji's loss after being tricked by Ganta and hit right on the upper chest, "DEAD CENTER!" using his words.
As a consequent for losing, Senji's right eye is removed during the Punishment Game, which is a penalty given to the loser of the Carnival Corpse. They must "donate" a part of their body to be used in a research into the nature of Deadmans and their Branch of Sin abilities.

His next appearance is during Ganta's second Carnival Corpse battle against Takami Minatsuki. Senji helps Ganta in defeating Minatsuki, giving him advices on his Branch of Sin (naming it "Ganta Gun") and forbids him to lose until their next fight, when Senji would be able to challenge Ganta again. He even, after the fight, warns Ganta to be cautious around the other deadmans.

Later, he helps the Scar Chain (a rebel organization against Deadman Wonderland), defeating some members of the Undertakers which is an anti-Deadman special force (sort of an enforcement guards of the G-Ward) in order to help Ganta. But he harshly refuses the request of joining the Scar Chain, telling them that the beautiful world that they seek just does not exist.
His last appearance in the manga shows him teaching a technique of his to Ganta, which is capable of overcoming the weapons of the Undertakers which were discovered to have been modified to nullify the Branches of Sin.
PERSONALITY
The first thing noticeable about Senji is his battle hunger. Senji loves to fight more than everything else and thus he trains himself everyday to be always stronger and prepared to a match anytime. He's the kind of guy who would pick a fight out of boredom; he would force someone into a fight with him (in the full meaning of the term FORCE) without giving them a chance to escape, especially if he finds them strong or capable of giving him an exciting fight. He fears nothing and would fight about anything; doesn't care who or what, if they can still stand and throw punches, it wasn't his problem. He's also quick to analyze his opponents' skills and weaknesses, although once he gets excited during a fight, he often forgets caution, making him more vulnerable as he loses control.

Another big aspect of his personality is his great cynicism. Senji believes that in the world there is no place without violence, that only the strong survive and thus everyone who isn't strong shouldn't "show their fangs" acting as such. This is probably due to his past that has yet to be explained. He likes living in the G-Ward of the prison and has no desire to leave the place, especially because he believes that the outside world is no different from what happens daily in Deadman Wonderland.
Senji is untamed, wild. He doesn't like working for others - unless the reason is to get him to fight with strong people, but not if their beliefs are completely different from his own cynical view of the world. This is perhaps why he rejected the other Deadmen's offer of joining Scar Chain. Senji constantly lives with a "what-doesn't-kill-you-makes-you-stronger" attitude, and has no qualms about forcing his views onto other people. This is displayed in his calm appearance and acceptance to the lose of an eye after he lost the battle against Ganta.

Despite all this, Senji does have a sense of honor. He completely respects strength, perseverance and determination and he will probably think about it twice before killing someone if they show one of those qualities. Because, who knows, there is a possibility that the person would grow up to be an awesome fighter and give him a new, exciting fight!
The people who manage to gain his respect, however, may probably even meet Senji's friendly side. In other words, he is the kind of guy who would fight someone to near-death one day, and ask them to eat ramen with him the next. Senji does care about the people who manage to gain his respect and would help or encourage them if needed, as he does in the manga with Ganta. It is just, probably, really hard to gain that respect.

Although, none of these things matter when Senji is in front of a woman. Not any particular woman, but ones with mini-skirts, full body tights, nurse uniforms... Senji is surprisingly shy about female modesty to the point that he will throw his shirt at them asking them to cover themselves, or in extreme cases, nosebleed and pass out completely.
ABILITIES
Training for most of the day when he isn't in a fight, Senji has a very muscular build and great physical resistance and strength. But the power that really reside in him is his Branch of Sin, which he named "Crow Claw". Using two toothed rings that he wears on both of his thumbs, he slices both of his arms and evokes two scythe-like blades on them using his blood. Those blades can cut up practically everything, even metal, gaining a net-like shape the more he enlarges them.

He also developed a technique called "Invisible Black", a blade coming from the palm of his hand capable of cutting up things at the speed of sound.

As already stated, all of this techniques are activated with blood and, despite the fact that doesn't seem like it affects him, he'll still pass out from several blood loss. This is the reason why he devised the net-like shape of his Crow Claw, in order to have longer-reaching distance without drawing on more of his blood, which would make him vulnerable to having blood loss.
What are they bringing to Nuadoria?: Two toothed rings on both thumbs.

Third-Person Sample: So what if that place was shit? So what if all of the people in there were just supposed to be fucking guinea pigs? SO WHAT IF HE WAS ONE OF THEM!? In that place there was everything that he needed. Strong people to fight, a place to fight, fights; all of those fuckers who kept saying that place was insane, that who was left living there became crazy with time... they just didn't know what the real world was.

He knew that. He knew that it was just the same. People killing each other, lying, betraying their friends... tch! That place was so much better! There, differently from the outside, those were the rules.

So, what was that kid trembling about? Wanted to go home? Wanted to run away from that place? He really didn't know anything about the world. He was just a brat, after all...

...Or was he not?

"Come on, Woodpecker. Don't let me down!"

He saw that attack yesterday. That one who hit him Dead Center. The same one who made him so excited to fight that day. That kid wasn't just a normal brat, for sure; he had something in back-up, something that Senji was going to make him use and defeat him after that. He liked to win with his adversary at full force, or the fight wouldn't have been fun at all.

"Dead center!"

How many times did that kid use his Branch of Sin, anyway? Probably too much for his little body. He was going to fall soon.
...Damn it, then. Another disappointment!

"Eh...!"

But, hey that last one was big, nothing that his blades couldn't cut, though.
In the end, he was just a brat, huh? But whatever. If he couldn't do more than that, then continuing that fight would've been just useless. Running away? Living outside? A brat like him? Fucking hilarious. He wouldn't have survived that much anyway. It was better to put an end to his bratty world right here.

"...I am Senji Kiyomasa!"

Was that kid only that? What was that attack yesterday, just luck? Tch, that was one boring fight.

"What...!"

Why was he still trying to fight? What a brat...! But hey, Senji liked that determination. He was right at the start, that kid managed to overcome his limits; he was something!

"That won't work on me!"

That's right! He wasn't going to lose after being hit by something falling from the ceiling! He was going to cut that thing as soon as it reached his head, dammit.

"You...!"

But it's not like he ever thought that he was going to use it as a decoy to hit him. He was really starting to like that kid.

"... this one came Dead Center, Igarashi Ganta!"

And so he lost, huh? Not that he cared, though. He managed to see that kid's true strength; it was amazing!

What was he going to lose tomorrow in the Punishment Game? A hand? An ear? An eye? Whatever. He was strong and he would survive anyway. The only thing that interested him now was to see that brat-- no, Igarashi Ganta, to grow and become even stronger. That kid didn't know that he would've never accepted him losing against anyone, not after beating him.

"Congratulations, Igarashi Ganta."

First-Person Sample: [VOICE;]

--the hell is this place...?

[ Then silence as he examines the thing. A little mechanical noise can be heard just a bit before the device is thrown away on the floor. His voice sounds a bit further away due to not speaking into the device. ]

Oh, I get it now. This is the second level of that place, huh? I hope the guys around here are strong or I'll be really disappointed.

You're kind of making me excited, now.
