True story...

Way back in the late seventies, early eighties, the "Boystown" part of Chicago was Clark St between Fullerton and Diversey. Nobody went to Halsted St. That was a nasty gang infested area!

Anyway, I just remember hearing this song, over and over and different bars. Now two things to keep in mind: 1) Video bars still really hadn't happened. Sidetrack was about to open though (around the size of Bobby Love's) and 2) The city of Chicago still did not have cable. Lots of politics involved in this one; I believe the demand that it goes to a minority contracter prevented us from getting cable until the mid to late eighties.

So, it wasn't like I had access to MTV.

So after about a year of hearing this song, countless times and endlessly re-mixed, I finally found out it was Billie Jean.
