I get warm fuzzies from the smell of photo fixer - I spent some lovely times with my mother in the darkroom when I was little, and the smell brings back memories of her not frazzled by responsibilities and housework. She was a very different person when she had the freedom to be artistic.

Kind of funny, since fixer is a smell that most people don't like.

Smell is tied *so* strongly to memory. :) Disturbingly, I have comfort feelings when I smell a certain kind of mothcrystals my grandma always used! ;)

For me, it's lavender. When my mother packed away things for the winter, she always packed a bar of fancy lavender soap or two in with the items. Then when they came back out, they'd smell deliciously of lavender. My bedsheets always smelled of lavender, so to me it's one of the most relaxing smells in the world.
