It wishes it could help, but it is too far away to be of any use. 4-hour commute FTL. If you have somebody taking your share of the rent and blowing it, it's way past time to get out.

Can you not pay your land lord directly?

I you are only covering half the rent then it will not be you that gets evicted then , as you can proove that you were paying up.
