The registry entries may need to be hunted down and removed.

But, also, are you running any console emulators on the system? It would be retarded if the game complained about that, too, but... *shrugs* ...the honest consumer did not demand this garbage be supplied with their honest purchase.

*gets in line for tickets* ...What? What? This isn't the line for the Del Icious and the Chicken Stuffers concert?

*nods* I'll see what I can do, otherwise I figure it'll be something like getting a second hard drive just to move files around with. But yeah, it's probably having a hissy about the old NES etc rom files I keep.

Otherwise, I have absolutely no idea. I'd thought I'd removed blindwrite and daemon tools, etc

*nods* GIven its an opened game, all they'd let me have is another copy of the same game. I'll keep that in mind though.

Daemon Toolz has stealth modes. Fallout 3 doesn't see my install of it at all. It did get pissy about some piece of software that was part of either Nero or Blindwrite (I forget which), so I nuked that. However, I do still have both Nero and Blindwrite installed.

Click the error message you get when Secu-ROM whines, it will tell you exactly what it's upset about.

It was griping about blindwrite. I'll have to check the registry and see if I can find it to do anything about it.

There's a much easier way than what's been suggested. You can keep D-Tools and don't need cracks.

All you have to do is follow the instructions here to manually install the game and download the patched launcher.
http://support.securom.com/fallout3/index.php?c=fallout3&leng_en=1

You'll need to keep the original FalloutLauncher.exe so updates can be applied. Swap-in the original launcher for the update then swap-in the patched launcher, or download an updated patched launcher and use that. I'm not too sure, as I ruined my install by not knowing I had to swap the launchers and had to go download the patched one again after reinstalling.

You can also bypass the launcher altogether and start the game via Fallout3.exe.
This is, in a way, a built-in (and legal) no-disc crack.
Though you'll still need to go into the launcher to initially set up graphic options, and to activate/disable mods.
