“Aoba,” Ren’s eyes were wide, staring out into the backyard, every inch covered by a thick layer of snow.
The wonderment of the experience only made Aoba smile larger, leaning down to roll the snow into a sloppy ball. “You’ve never seen it right?” Aoba spoke, straightening his back, molding the clump of snow in his gloveless hands, eyes watching Ren happily, who stepped out from under the overhang of the porch and into the soft drifting snow.
“It’s cold,” Ren remarked, only making Aoba chuckle under his breath.
“Of course it’s cold, it’s winter and that’s snow,” Aoba pointed, enjoying the way the snowflakes clung to Ren’s dark tresses. With his grin spreading wider, Aoba pulled back his arm to fling the snowball, “Catch!”
Startled, Ren couldn’t dodge, and the snowball exploded as it hit his chest. He tossed a confused look at Aoba, who shrugged and continued laughing.
“A snowball,” he finally managed, his chest aching from the cold he’d inhaled, “is something you make with snow to have fun.”
“Oh,” Ren deadpanned, blinking back the snow flurries from his eyelashes.
Aoba chuckled, before reaching for Ren’s hand, “Here, I’ll show you.”
