War and Rights

Many people believe a temporary, partial suspension of Constitutional/Human Rights are okay during wartime. If this is the case, why does nobody worry when wars are declared for frivilous reasons? I wholeheartedly agree. Those in power realize that most people would rather trade a false-sense of security for power. I cringe every time I hear freedoms taken away all in the name of "fighting X,Y, and Z". I chuckle sadly when I hear we live in a "free nation". Sure, we may be more free than others, but becomoming less so... As you can tell, I'm a Constitutionalist/Intentionalist. In my opinion, there is no need to turn it into a 'living document' in order to interpret it. There are plenty of debates in the Federalist/Anti-Federalist papers to help interpret what little is vague.

Anyway, it's good to hear another who understands the direction we are heading...

The problem is that I don't want to understand this... I just see it, and it annoys the hell outta me that soooooooo many people are either completely blind to it, or just don't care about what's really going on. Tell someone that slavery still exists in this country and they'll tell you that it doesn't (I did this a few times, and the response was either "I know" or "it can't"); what's their reason? Simple, "because slavery is illegal"... that's right, they think a measly little law will make a "bad" thing go away and never bother anyone again... makes me want to pass a law against stupidity, but it would be a stupid thing to do and I'd be the first fined/arrested/shot-on-sight. :|

The masses either don't think or don't care. Probably both since distractions are so plentiful.

LOL. To pass such a law implies that there would be qualified people to enforce it :)
