that would be hard on ur relationship...yeah im not nikki, but the longer the distance between u 2 (if she stays here) hte less time you guys have to spend together...time spent in earnin enough money to travel and then travelling!
What part of California? The Bay Area is hard to live in with a $60k/year income, so the area you'd live in is a HUGE factor. I'd say look into how much apt. and other forms of housing are in the area before you even consider the job.
I say do it. On the money side, i'm sure you can work it out, i have friends who moved out htere wihtout jobs or places to live and they're doing fine. Just save all the money you can and enjoy the weather you don't need that many nice things if you can just go to the beach and enjoy the sun. As for your lady, if it's a worthwhile relationship it'll work itself out, i'm a big fan of taking a break, that way you can test the relationships staying power, if oyu guys get back together and you still want to be with each other that's awesome then power to you, if you guys can do the time apart thing then either don't go or do go but understand what you're doing. BUt that's just what i think, the last time i went to California for a job what happened to me?
i dont have many details yet...just got an informal offer today. In any case it wouldnt be permanent, but for 3-5 yrs it would be interesting. I have to look into all the stuff and I'll have more info late september. i was told it was in the "elbow area" lol. but yeah, it'd be nice cause ive always wanted to be out in cali, and if it didnt work out i could come back, but i still have to talk to nikki about it. and i agree with mike, i know its expensive to live there, but id be splitting rent with 2-3 otehr ppl for awhile and i dont reall do much but work ne ways right now and this job would be like 50-60hrs a week so im not TOO worried about cash flow, just changing things and of course my relationship. Who knows, he could call when he gets there and tell me there isnt a position available...
