Apparently the Brazilian TV channel was highly implying that their source is Piquet Snr.
A lot of people were joking that Daddy knew where the bodies were buried at Renault and thats why Jnr kept his seat long after most people thought he should have been fired.
If this turns out to be true, he really, really did know where the bodies were buried!

If it is from him that he is going to bury the hopes of Nels ever getting in an F1 car again - plus, surely they could have only communicated that via radio in which case the FIA would have heard it?

this is the story I remember hearing at the time and it has popped up again tonight
"On the lap after Fernando's stop, Piquet received a radio instruction, "Push, Nelson!" At the time he was still stuck down in 16th position behind Barrichello's Honda, where he'd been from the start, so the instruction itself didn't seem to make a whole lot of sense. Coded instruction, it has been suggested."

Curiouser and curiouser...then again they did used to tell Nels to push quite a lot ;) Would have been one way to do it, but then it would have been so pre-arranged that Nels would get some shit for being so compliant surely?

:O

Well, it's got to be something more substantial than 'wild conspiracy theories' otherwise the FIA wouldn't bother with it, surely?? And for fresh evidence to come to light after almost a year... I dunno, Nels is very hacked off and doesn't seem to be one to serve revenge as a cold dish. I hope to God it hasn't come from him because the backlash could be terrible :/

But if it IS true... the FIA could take away Fernando's points... and retrospectively award Fluff first place :O Maybe Nels is on a promise?????

There must be something concrete for them to be going off, as much fun as FIA investigations are I doubt they would start them on a whim. I just can't think what evidence there would be, as surely they would have done it via radio and FOM keep track of what is being said etc

The backlash would be absolutely shocking, Alonso may have survived the whole spying thing but he's Fernando and this is Nels.

That would be pretty cool, but I don't know if they would change it after a year, maybe something based around the 'bringing the sport into disrepute' thing? It might not be about Renault at all of course...doubt it though ;)

Hmmm if this did indeed come from Daddy Piquet then you have to wonder why he's doing it. Flav has a lot of mud sticking already from previous dodgy dealings, but he always shrugs it off and keeps going. I can't work out if Daddy wants Nels to race next year or if he wants him to take up flower-arranging instead...

I'm thinking Nels mouthed off about it to someone because he was angry, and the person he told blew the whistle.. or they told someone else, then that person told more people and it made its way around.

How can you arrange a crash? How do you know how serious it's going to be? How do you know if a safety car is going to come out or when it's going to come out? And how could they predict all those unknowns and arrange to get Fernando in at the right moment all ahead of time?. It's a load of bollocks.

It would require a large amount of maths and quite a lot of evil. On the face of things it seems like bollocks, but for the FIA to want to investigate it - there must be something going on, even if it's not to do with Renault :S

Because the FIA has such a good record on the logic behind their enquiries? <-- sarcasm voice

Lol, they don't have the best track record do they? Still, there usually is something to spark investigations off and, as insane as they are, I don't think they'd risk losing more face by basing an investigation on one the say of one person.

I don't think they've actually said what it is about yet either, although I can't think what else there would possibly be to investigate!

I was talking to my mother and she said that it would have been nearly impossible to know what would happen after he crashed! I mean, other things assisted Fernando in actually winning. It wasn't like Nelson crashed and suddenly he was guaranteed the victory.

She also suggested that maybe they have to investigate if someone even suggests something like this (even if it's just to prove there is no evidence)

But, I agree, what does Nelson gain from it? The team is thrown out (most likely) and then people say Nelson was part of it :S Very strange.

So many variables to try and compute through! It's so strange to see something that was considered a bit of a joke to suddenly get so serious :s
