Allyssa and thinking... Hmmm... I wonder if that's anything like Tony and thinking... Hmmmm.... *Pictures self laughing manically as I rule the world*
Dreams fall into a couple of categories:
1. Repressed emotional state (Same as bottled up feelings) 2. Repressed desires (Triggered by fear of disapproval, failure) 3. Repressed memories (Flashbacks)
Usually you'll find some combination of these concepts in dreams. I'm personally not a big fan of those "dream analysis" books that say an acorn in your dream means you want to have kids. (Sounds like BS to me)
Because you cannot picture something you have never seen any example of, dreams typically reuse things you have seen in your life, or the major things in your life at the moment.
If I were to analyze it, I'd say you're holding back some anger/discontent for something or someone because you think it'll get better (and it isn't, or so your dream would indicate).

Yes, some dreams can be interpreted as simply replays of previously digested material from books or movies. But I think to myself, if I find myself in one of those scenarios, there's probably a reason why I'm there to begin with. Either I found it intriguing, it triggered some level of emotional response before, or it fits nicely between my wishes or fears. Doesn't have to be repressed, as it could be present in the conscious mind as well

Because I saw the third possibility, and decided that it needed some verbiage. The concept of repressed memories exhorting themselves in dreams can be misleading at times. Memory functions in a very strange way, relying on some reconstruction rather than total recall. (I.E., I was in my car. My car is a red Mitsubishi. Ergo, I *must* have been in a red mitsubishi.) The most graphic and horribly damaging (to their careers, anyways) example of this is the great number of hypnotic "recovered" memories. The entire nation, based on the sessions, was obviously involved in dark rituals including child molestation, baby sacrifices, and dancing naked in things better not pondered

I'm not sure if I'd ever mentioned it, but yes dream pain can be somewhat close to reality. Remember that in sleep, your mind while dreaming has pumped your system with a cocktail of chemicals to make sure whatever nerves and actions you take in your dreams do not get acted out. (This is what made Ambien so fun in the news.) I've dreamt, to date, of a very very great number of ways to die (from burning, drowning, stoning, impaling, stabbing, quick stop at the end of a long free fall...) and they all hurt in varying degrees of suck.
