Contrary to prior belief, Calculus limits are NOT so easy one can do them in their sleep.
The Experiment:
I was doing my calc. homework yesterday, and I was starting to drift off. I fought the fog of sleep valiantly, yet I soon could not resist the tantalizing call of those gods who govern sleep.
I remember waking up for about 2 seconds, gazing blearily at my paper, thinking to myself "Must... finish... #17..." and then falling asleep again. Woke up 4 seconds later for about 1 second, saw some writing on my paper, and fell asleep again. Woke up, again a few seconds later, figured out #17 in my head, wrote it down and fell asleep for about 2 hours.
I woke up, and the above picture is what I saw.
Data Collected:
Take a look at the underlined piece in the picture:
saved her from dying
What the hell? I really don't understand why I wrote that. Saved who from dying? Why on my calculus homework? Did I really write that while I was sleeping?
and since when is 5 times 7 105? Do you see that? (Arrow pointing to it, if you can follow the problem) (You have to times the 5x by the 7 under the 'lim')
and I honestly have no rememberance of writing down #19 at all. Look at the problem, Square root of x + 1, and x=3. I wrote down 4, and circled it about 30 times. 4? Honestly. I guess it's close, at least I can do "3+1" in my sleep.
???
The Conclusion:
No matter HOW easy the math is, you CANNOT do it in your sleep!
I am really disappointed in my unconcious mind. I was sure my subconcious could figure out what the square root of 4 is. I guess not.
