i was bored today, so i did thissss

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy? He's very tall: 6'5", and built. The wiki puts him at 160 lbs, but I'm thinking it has to be closer to 200, actually, because in every depiction of him, he's fairly muscled. Not beefy, but... pretty solid.

2. How old is he? Unknown, since all his memories of his past have been erased. He's somewhere in the late 30s to early 40s.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch? Yep, he's got very good posture. This is half implication and half headcanon, but he was in the military in his time before Bendix, and the straight-backed thing was kind of drilled into him. He is definitely not perpetually stiff, though; he can relax and slouch with the best of them. All as the situation calls for it, I suppose?

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? Extremely healthy! His immune system was one of the things that was augmented, and he pretty much never gets sick, and his body takes care of illness that would devastate other people in a matter of weeks. He gyms it pretty regularly, and gets a workout every time he has to crack a few heads. No illnesses or disabilities.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? Hmm... I don't know how I would describe it. He moves... like a killer. Silent and deadly. It's graceful in a way, because of his gyroscopic balance and all, but mostly, he's very stealthy and fluid. Buuuut then again, he can be like an absolute rhinoceros when he wants to, in terms of barging in, not caring who's in his way, etc.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror? Not a bad looking guy, not at all. He pretty much doesn't really care what he looks like. Apollo likes his looks, and that's enough for him.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred? He's white, with a pretty healthy tan going on. His face is mostly clear, but his body is scarred to varying degrees: both the after-effects of his surgeries and his many battles.

8. Describe his hair: colour, texture, style. He's naturally a redhead; he dyes it often. Most of the time it's either blond or light brown. Because of all that washing and dyeing, I'd have to say it's gotten at least a little coarse over the years. He keeps it short, but not too close to his scalp.

9. What colour are his eyes? Light brown. Bordering on grey sometimes. Some issues have them blue, but I disregard those.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features? Not really. Other than the scars on his body.

11. What are his chief tension centres? His fists, I think.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colours, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit? He pretty much never comes out of his Midnighter costume, and yeah, I would imagine he has more than a few of them. The pants and the shirt look like they're made of some kind of latex/leather hybrid, and the coat is leather. He wears boots and spiked gloves and a mask, of course. It's all pretty much geared towards easy movement and intimidation. The few times he's not wearing it, he has on pretty casual clothes like t-shirts and khaki pants. Dark and neutral colours. He was seen one time wearing a suit and shades, but that was when he was on the job. So, all in all, when he's not in costume, he dresses for comfort and convenience.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them? Yes, and of course. Clothes don't make him uncomfortable. He's the Midnighter.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences? No, as explained above. Costume for work, and sometimes when he's off the job too, considering that he does things like invade Afghanistan in his free time. Casual clothes for all the other times.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando? Boxers/commando, depending on his mood or the situation.

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse? Deep and slightly hoarse.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate? He speaks easily, at a medium-ish pitch. Not very fast.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? I don't think he has any discernible accent; if he did, he'd have used that as a clue to find out where he came from, right? IDK. I guess he sounds like an average West Coast American. No verbal tics.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency? Fluent in English, German, Russian, Arabic, a few Chinese dialects. That is what there's evidence for in the series; I really suspect he speaks quite a few more. This part borders into headcanon: he's proficient in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and ASL.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations? Sure. He speaks Russian when he's in Russia. /shrug

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words? Pretty good impromptu speaker, though honestly, I can imagine him spending some time making up insults and threats when he's bored out of his mind and has nothing to do.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change? He's not inarticulate, but I'm not going to call him eloquent either. He's just... very much in control of what he says. This probably changes... idk, on the few occasions that people manage to surprise him, and when he's having sex.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart? He's extremely intelligent. More street smart than book-smart, but I figure he's no slouch in traditional education. He's a tactical genius, yo.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate? He SEEMS like a feet thinker, and most people would describe him as such, but no! He really does deliberate on his decisions. Computer in his brain, remember? He just deliberates very very quickly; in the span of a second.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical? Logical and practical to a fault. The computer is a fight computer, but it's been shown to function in the same way in other situations as well. The computer will run through a million simulations on a given situation in the span of a second or something, and he'll pick the most logical one, the one that ends favourably for him, the one he likes the best, etc. There are times when it doesn't manage to work out like that for him. That is, the logical solution won't be the one he wants, or something like that. I imagine that he and the computer clash fairly often.

4. What kind of education has the character had? No idea? He doesn't have any idea either. I suspect he volunteered himself into the military straight out of high school, got himself all his tactical and combat training, etc, and some time after that, the whole Bendix thing happened.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about? Expertise? Um, fighting, and killing people and also torture?

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert? Introvert-ish... he's pretty reserved when he's not out slaughtering bad guys, etc. Reserved in a grumpy sort of way. He opens up around the right people.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven? He's pretty stoic and grumpy most of the time. I daresay those are his defaults. Pretty sarcastic when he's ready, and very driven when it comes to work. It's also not that hard to get him angry. I guess he has a sort of soft, playful side, but that's strictly reserved for Apollo and Jenny, and kidlets.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic? Indifferent or suspicious, depends.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react? Act! Since he already knows how you're going to react.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight? Kill. (Fight.)

11. Describe the character's sense of humour. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humour? Bathroom humour? Pranks? He's fairly witty when he's ready, and has a lot of sarcasm to spare, but he's not really one for casual jokes and stupid humour. And no, he won't appreciate it if you try to make jokes at his expense.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them? He's a sadist and borderline sociopath. Some people wouldn't bother with the borderline. :x He hasn't been diagnosed with anything, but he enjoys killing people a bit too much, and is generally unhinged. Dealing with it... gosh, he doesn't, not really. He indulges all of his tendencies, but I guess Apollo can control him to some extent.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person? Being... cut open by Bendix and made into a killing machine. Also, meeting Apollo! ♥ Adopting Jenny! ♥

14. What does he fear? Please. (Though, he himself admits to having nightmares about Bendix, centred on that doomed mission, and probably the surgeries.)

15. What are his hopes or aspirations? To create a finer world. To live out a good life with his husband, doing his job.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him? Wow, legit can't think of anything for this. He doesn't remember the first half of his life, etc. But I guess he wouldn't be too verbose about having to kill Jenny Fractal, his daughter's twin sister. At that point it was the only thing to be done, but it was pretty much the hardest thing he ever had to do. And it hurt, because he prides himself on protecting, and never hurting children.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents. Non-existent!

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like? He doesn't know if he has any, and also non-existent!

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand? AMNESIAAAAA.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them? Not really? Though maybe the Authority would count here.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet? Apollo! They were both part of Stormwatch Zero, Bendix's secret team. Apollo was the team leader, and after what they went through on that doomed mission, I guess they bonded~. But yeah, Apollo sees parts of him that no one else ever has, and no one else would ever want to, and he's the closest person to the Midnighter. He loves this man like no other, and NEEDS him on many levels.

6. Does he have other close friends? Uhhhh... I guess Jenny S., Jack, Swift, Angie, Jeroen, Habib, etc. They're his team-mates, and although they irritate the living fuck out of him sometimes, he respects and cares for them a great deal. He has their backs.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people? Ugh. He's not a friend-making person. It's not that he has trouble getting along with people, he just doesn't WANT to, in general. It's something that could... possibly happen, though?

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends? Family, I guess. His family are his friends, and his friends are almost family, though, so...

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once? Very happily married! ♥ And nope, Apollo's the first! (That he knows of. But I don't think he would have gotten married before.)

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse? Nope. He likes his balls where they are, tyvm.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest? No idea about the first. As for the latest... he had a brief sort of crush on Danny Chan... the cyborg... :|

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner? Uhhh... someone strong enough to handle the dark, ugly parts of him. That's why Apollo is his ideal mate; he's BEEN through all that stuff with him. Someone who'll give him his space when he needs it, won't coddle him, and will understand him. I think he likes people to be strong and like.. forceful with him...

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any? One daughter. Lawd, Jenny. He relates pretty well with her. They bicker and verbally tango a lot, but retain a good relationship, in and outside of work. Jenny understands him a little better than Apollo, in a few ways. She can be a serious pain in the ass (the whole Harmony thing, Jesus) but he loves her to death.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOLOLOLOLOL he makes enemies just by waking up in the morning. Most of them end up dead by sundown.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale? Gay. Definite 6.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him? I'd say it's pretty important to him. He enjoys it rather a lot. Bow chicka, etc etc etc.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits? He likes someone who is dominating and controlling? Not all of the time, though. And uh... idk what else. This is embarrassing. Ffffff, but I think he probably likes biting and bloodplay too.

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type? IDK IDK IDK. He has no canon birthday, what with the amnesia and everything. According to the fake birthday that he had on his fake ID card during the first Harmony arc (14th July, 1967), he's a Cancer. I just did some quick googling, and they're supposed to be really emotional and receptive to people and caring so LOL NO IT DOESN'T FIT. In the Chinese Zodiac he's a goat. "You are elegant and creative, timid and prefer anonymity." ONLY ONE OF THOSE IS RIGHT. GUESS WHICH ONE. So... yeah. Definitely a fake birthday, if these things are supposed to be anywhere near accurate.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life? None! He's indifferent to religion in general, and won't bother with it, but he will get seriously pissed if you try to shove your shit in his face. He's gotten a lot of shit for being gay from religious institutions, so it's a definite sore spot. Then there's the small matter of that time the Authority killed God.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it? Oh God. Let's see. He's sworn to protect innocent people and make the world a better place, and do whatever it takes. Whatever... it takes. So... he'll do whatever he deems necessary to achieve those goals, and he's not hesitant about doing things that are morally ambiguous (or outright morally wrong) to achieve them? It began, I guess, when he and Apollo got screwed over by Bendix; they couldn't go back to their own lives, because they didn't know who they were, so they just turned to the next best thing: helping people. And, as for compromising it. LOL oh God, I don't even know. He does unethical shit all the time so I feel that that doesn't even apply?? IDEK, one of the strongest tenants of his moral code is that he DOES NOT harm or hurt children if he can ever help it. For him to compromise that... it'd have to be something to do with the greater good, man. As aforementioned, he killed a baby when the entire universe was in danger. It was something that he HAD to do (and it's noteworthy that he was the one selected for the job; no one else on the team could have done that and lived with themselves afterwards) and it was really hard, because Jenny Fractal was his daughter's twin, and he had to go back in time to when they were infants, and somehow SEE which was his Jenny, and which was the bad Jenny. And like he said, back them she wasn't 'bad' or evil; she was only that way because of what humans did to her. But anyway, this is getting long. TL;DR he went against his code and killed a baby because the universe depended on it.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent? Indifferent, tolerant for the most part.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them? I think he can be about as racist any oblivious white American man, in that he doesn't mean to be, but intent isn't magic, etc.

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt? Comfortable? He lives on a sentient shiftship, and at some point he and Apollo were going to buy a house in L.A, so I guess they've got money.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him? Uh. Idk how to class his social status, because the Authority pretty much rules the world. But yeah, he used to be a glorified vagrant, sleeping in alleys and boxes, and now, he wakes up with the sun. So, yes, there's been a change. It hasn't really affected him that much...? He's still the same person, except with more power, and he uses that power to effect the changes he wants in the world.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others? Apartment-ish place on the Carrier with Apollo. Jenny used to live there, but she got her own rooms when she became a teenager. It's in pretty good condition. IDK how to describe it in words so here are some images. Guns... lava lamp... BACKSTREET BOYS POSTER, GOD APOLLO... big ass TV... artsy wall photos... big bed... David sculpture knockoff... dirty socks on the floor... I don't think it's his "castle" or anything, but he likes it, and likes living there? I guess? Wva.

In Paradisa his room is pretty much the standard castle room, and it'll stay that way for a long time. He's hardly ever there anyway.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on? Uh... weapons?

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else? He is exceptionally good at saving the world and kicking ass and gutting criminals, and no, he pretty much can't do anything else at this point. Engineered to be a killing machine, and all. And he doesn't really want to. He tried to retire after Jackson gave him and Apollo their out, and it just didn't stick.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time? Killing shit... crushing terrorists... and spending time with Apollo and Jenny.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods? He doesn't NEED to eat, so, it's not really an issue. But he does. I think that it's one of the few things that keeps him feeling human. He likes alcohol, but not to excess.
