Last night I watched Roger and Me and he talks to this lady that raises rabbits for food (despite them being lop-eared bunnies!) and she's talking and right there she just bends down and bludgeons the rabbit to death!! On camera!! And he shows it ( Read more... )

Pets or meat, I remember that. It was sad, but food is food when you're starving......

There was a sequel called "pets or meat: the return to flint" but I have never been able to find it.

I'm from Detroit. The rabbits weren't the saddest or the scariest part of that story.

It was pretty sad.
It was sad to see that the area is going through it again (though it sounds like it never really recovered either).

that sounds horrible! i think one of the reasons i disliked true grit so much (other than that annoying girl) was because of the horse deaths. and those weren't even real!

the dead horse scene was the absolute worst!

Hmm, I totally don't remember that! Though I watched it in high school, at school, so maybe the teacher fast forwarded it? I can't remember, I hope so!

(and I have to say, rabbit is delicious. but if I think about it too much its disgusting. but then all meat is disgusting to me if I think about it, so I don't eat it often and don't think about it)

I don't have a problem with eating rabbit - but I do have a problem with having to watch it (or any animal) being slaughtered. Especially on someone's front lawn with a lead pipe.

Funny you mention that because I was just going to watch Roger and Me the other day. I didn't end up watching it though. Now maybe I don't want to!

It wasn't all that great but I had never seen it. I don't like Michael Moore!
If you do watch it - just skip the parts with the rabbit lady!

So...you arent supposed to eat any rabbits that have lop ears?
