Fine. I feel sick, and not just in the physical way.
I'll fight, but only with someone who wants to. Someone I know. It's only... just until you call it quits. I don't think it counts if we hold back, but- no hard feelings. For anyone. Promise me that.

[She stood in the center of a clearing she had made. Trees had fallen away from her, and they lay like lines radiating away from an axis. Anything she couldn't really push, like shrub or weeds, she had set on fire, in a way that burned faster than normal. Streaks of charred leaves and ash surrounded her.]
[As for Elaine herself, she was drenched in sweat, her hair and clothes clinging to her skin. She was doubled over, already tired.]

[She's too tired for a moment for it to register properly. But when it does, she rushes to the door, ignoring her aches, sweeps up the candy and forces herself to concentrate on the trail that her visitor left behind, an old trick she knew from childhood.]
