Challenge me!

Not meaning to sound massively egotistical - a la Armand in Eldorado (me! me! me!) - but I have just returned to the Pimpernel fold after a weary leave of absence of, ooh, two years or so (betraying the Baroness with Jane Austen, I'm afraid). I have been easing myself back into the fandom, with a viewing of the 1934 film and a re-re-re-re-reading ( Read more... )

dunno if this is what you're looking for (and I know most people tend to hate this type of fic, so no worries if you hate it), but I've always been intrigued by the idea of Percy/Marguerite as parents. We see them so often as these passionate lovers, but I think it'd be hilarious to see how they cope with rambunctious adventurous children, as any children of theirs surely would be...*shrugs* just an idea. But yay for you being back in the fandom! :D

So I have I, though I haven't written about them - yet! There was a cracking fan fiction piece from years back that was very cutesy, about Percy and his daughter, so perhaps I could go all angsty instead. Hmm.

Excellent idea, thanks! (Watch this space.)

First of all, hooray and welcome back! My fandom weaves in and out depending on what else I'm doing, but Percy will always be my hunny-bunny. I'd never heard of House of Stratus until now; I hope they do currency conversions! Litfy has some of the books for free, but not all of them.

Have you seen the 1998 movie series? I've always wondered what the dauphin did after the third movie ended.

Have you seen the 1998 movie series?I have, though I wasn't keen on REG or Elizabeth McGovern. That little ditty in the Dauphin episode - 'Send.Them. Both. To the guill-o-tine' - always gets stuck in my head for days afterwards! As to the Dauphin, I think pseudo-history covers that better than I ever could - there were countless theories, and impostors, after the rumour went around that the little boy was rescued from the Temple/replaced with a deaf-mute orphan, which is what the Baroness believed. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to write the Dauphin, even in the Pimpernel version of events, though ( ... )

Ha. You aren't missing much. I couldn't even finish the series. I LOVE BBC but the SP is atrocious. I love fics that explore the brief, but poignant returns of P to M. And I love fics that explore M as a supporting member of the Band. She has so much to offer and people sometimes just shove her into a certain box. Exploring the dynamics rather than events is always good. :)

I had to Google the film, and I still can't remember if I've seen that one or I'm thinking of The Wicked Lady, but how would that go?? Transplant the characters of TSP into TMIG, or have Sir Percy get involved with the plot og TMIG?

You're right, that would be insane - but I'm still thinking of tracking down a copy of the film/novel ... ;)

If you want short - your favourite scene(s) from SP from Percy's POV. If you want long - the entire novel from his POV.
(Or any of the other stories, though I'm just starting to work my way through them.)

Alternatively a prequel -
any Percy/Marguerite from meeting to the beginning of SP
or young Percy - how he became such close friend with the member's of the League
or the League's beginnings - how they were chosen, inducted, made London believe they were even more brainless than previously thought, issues with getting started
or Frank - how Percy and he met, how Percy came to trust him, his thoughts on... anything and everything.

... you did ask for ideas, can't say I didn't try.

Honestly, any SP fic will be eagerly consumed.

Regarding ebooks - do you know about gutenburg? - http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/author/45

(Why does LJ deem this comment 'suspicious'?)

Ah, rehashed scenes are my favourite type of fan fiction! Prequels make me nervous, perhaps because there are already so many good versions out there (I once Beta'd a story about Percy and Marguerite's first meeting in Paris, by Elyse, and I'm not sure I could better that, even all these years later!) But all are great ideas, thanks!

Yeah, I know that the novels are free to download, but I like wasting my money on shiny 'official' versions instead ;)
