Completely random things

(One of those times when there are random thoughts that don't make a coherent post, but I want to get them out anyway.)

After my computer playlist went on a Disney streak:

1. A line from "Prince Ali" in Aladdin: "Just try your best to stay calm/Brush up your Sunday salaam."

your Sunday salaamREALLY. REALLY? It's amazing how words can ( Read more... )

"Be Prepared" has one line that makes it 2nd place for me - "when I'm seen for the wonder I am!" Which just makes the supervillainy sound like Scar needs a gold star and he'll actually feel better. Oh, Scar, even Nazi-imagery with hyenas will not make me able to stop giving you the side-eye. Also, my favourite thing about the song is when the hyenas break into laughter at the end, which also takes away from Scar, so it doesn't say as much about him as a villain. /MY SERIOUS BUSINESS DISNEY THOUGHTS, LET ME SHOW YOU THEM :D

The villains totally always have the best songs, though. Except maybe in Aladdin - but my soft spot for "A Whole New World" is vast.

Hunch Back of Notre Dame was a weird experience. I COULD NOT BELIEVE they had a priest-type guy singing passionately about how he wants to have wild sex with a woman. At age 14 or 13 I seriously felt like I might be too young for that, and my one sister watched the movie when she was in her 20s, and also felt like she might have been too young for that. You don't expect these things ( ... )

You don't need a reason! The song is fantastic, this is a fact. And it is true that taking over the kingdom because he feels like it is pretty awesome.

Ooh, yes, the Prince Ali reprise. It was clever to turn the song around that way, and I love that one too.

Watch it again! Although I'm not sure if Disney hasn't removed or toned down the scene of uncontrollable priestly desire.

Glad to hear you want to read it. :D I think we read the same fanfic, and it was practically scene-for-scene the same as the first book in the series. You'll be fine starting with Queen of Attolia, or even just skimming the fanfic to make sure of events.
