Lute met Paul when he needed him the most. When the people closest to him pushed him away, Paul was there to pick up the pieces. Paul was able to see through Lute's smiling mask, and for once someone saw the truth in him. Lute loves him, and when Lute loves someone it's with everything he has. Things are rough now though, ever since Atia send Paul three years through his future. He came back angry and confused, and keeps giving Lute mixed signals about what he want. A lot of "I love you, but..." and it's breaking his heart.

Flute means everything to Lute, he'd gladly slit his own throat if it meant it would somehow save her life. Her arriving in Atia was both the best and worst thing that ever could have happened. What he ended up needing to do was completely block the fact that she was being intimate with people and completely pretend like it wasn't happening at all. That way he could focus on getting to know her, since he missed out on the chance to watch her grow up. Lute was pretty torn up when she was sent home, but at the same time he was glad she was out of there.

Most of the memories Lute had of Clari were of when Clari was a little boy. They were very close, and Clari looked up to him above all others. In Atia their relationship became very strained due to the circumstances. Every time Lute tried to get closer, Clari would push him further and further away. In the end, Clari confessed that he didn't believe that Lute would be able to return to Sforzando, which made Lute feel like Clari had lost faith in him. It really hurt him, and Lute started to worry that he changed far to much over his time with Bass and now on Atia. Clari had been suffering so much in Atia, so when he finally was able to get home, Lute was relieved that he was free of it.

Kenshin was literally the first real friend Lute ever had(one that wasn't a servant or a child anyway). They hit it off right away, both having a lot in common without realizing it. Kenshin has been there with him right from the beginning, even helped him open the clinic. He is still a fixture there, even after randomly loosing a good ten years in age. He spends a lot of time screaming sulking in the store room, and Lute is convinced he even sleeps in there.

It was strange, meeting Ocarina. The only clear memories he had of her are of watching her raise Siezer through the eyes of Hell King Bass' marionette. She is a demon, something he is sworn to destroy, but he can see the kind soul in her, and the fact that she's friends with his precious baby sister was all he needed to accept her. She worries about him, and that's more then he can say for himself.

Lute thinks of Alphonse like the little brother he never had. While Lute may not come off as an adult, but he actually is, so part of him can't help but see Al as a kid, especially after nursing him back to health after arriving in Atia extremely emaciated. Al has always been there for him, and Lute appreciates having him in his life.

Misa was the first steady lover that Lute had, and over time he'd fallen in love with who he thought she was. In the end she broke his heart, and he had to turn her into the police for murdering someone. He never viewed her as an evil person, just hurt by life and terribly misguided. To this day he believes that she is a good person at heart, and just needs to be guided back to the right path.

If there was anyone ever in the history of the world that Lute could possibly hate beyond all logical reasoning, it would be Major Raikov. He lives to make Lute's life a living hell for damaging his precious sense of reality, but Lute refuses to give him any sense of satisfaction, so he's met with nothing but politeness and smiles. Though, by some twist of logic Lute feels terribly guilty for accidentally killing Raikov, even though he was attempting to cut off his wings at the time.

Cielo was an odd one, he came from a world where he was forced to kill and eat his enemies, yet he had to be one of the nicest people Lute has ever met. He came off as a bit childish, and he didn't understand a great many things that didn't involve war. He was far more then that, as Lute learned, and when Cielo didn't feel like he was wanted by his friends, Lute offered him a place to stay. When Cielo was sent away from the island again, Lute was both happy and extremely saddened by it.
