Not my best show... and I wanted to do a great show for all my good friends, everyone who came out... and of course for Black Molly and the Barebones Orchestra guys =) We definitely nailed it in parts, and then others I just kept crumbling. You're too hard on yourself! I wasn't at this gig but you said something similar after the last time we played Carousel and you sounded fine that night. Most of the time your audience doesn't notice mistakes or a night you are feeling "off", and even if they do its taken in the context of the overall experience of the music of the whole band for the whole set. Even your own bandmates who know the songs inside out will recognize a fraction of what you consider to be weak points yourself. Funny, one of your bandmates listened to The Lovers Live at Ruta Maya and said he was impressed we played that show with no mistakes. When I listen to it I can hear mistakes and empty spots where I usually play something but missed it that night. But if I put it on in the background while I'm doing something else or chatting with a friend over, I think how good that show sounds. It's the difference between critical scrutiny looking for imperfections (which is valuable to do for future ideas/improvements) or listening to the overall sound in a ( ... )
