"Is there a single guiding principle that directs all of your choices in life?"

Wow. Yes.

"and if so, what is it?"

Love.

"and how does it work?"

In a thousand, million instances streteched across the vastness of a milisecond, slowly and surely rolling on to the full length of an entire second, throughout the myriad of seconds and minutes and hours of each day and week and month and year. It's the one thing that always is ( Read more... )

I think beyond love it is compassion for myself and those i encounter creates incredible space and capacity to expand beyond limitations, it allows me to be present to life in real tangeable ways, it allows me to love things, people situations even when things are not all rosey, it opens the heart to possibilities......especially when im roaring.

PS. your roaring is pretty cute and makes me giggle inside

This is beautiful. Thank you.

I've never quite been able to put my guiding principle into words.

I've tried to hone it down, by thinking about what distinguishes the decisions I usually make, especially if I have a choice to do two things which are equally enjoyable. I think overall it is usually guided by a desire to learn/expand myself and that I therefore usually take the road that I think will teach me more.

But on the other hand, my more hedonistic side also chimes in and guides me to seek the choice that will give me more happiness or pleasure.

Since Love is the energy that fuels both the desire for pleasure and to learn, I guess it's tickling my core too!

Ah, Love. All you need is love.
I don't have a single guiding principle. I am a feather floating on the wind, letting the winds of chance blow me hither and thither. I am Forrest Gump. (Seriously, tho - I like the idea of having a single guiding principle though. I'm gonna play with that one a little.)

It sounds as though "chance" or "experience" or "living for the moment" guide you. Just fodder for thought...

So tell me, what's your guiding principle?

I like cups of green tea. Making and drinking. Making for other people. Or myself.

Instinct. Perhaps love is an even better choice.

Want to be all about compassion.
