god, I did too (why do I keep making myself cry with my own writing? I'm not sure that's healthy), and I think it's just like you say: there's no dancing around issues with them. "Want to fuck?" "No." "Fine then."

It's so basic and straightforward, which is actually a really challenging way of portraying emotions. Because we don't really do that, normally. It's hard NOT to make them talk around the issues.

I love this little verse, and am so glad motetus made that original picture...

I love the verse too. It's a joy to write, and to read afterwards (I am very good at keeping myself entertained), and then I get PICTURES. LOTS OF PICTURES.

The monosyllabic *mostly* style is catching for the SW 'verse ... if that is okay?

oh, absolutely! It's a delightful style, if a bit tricksy. The first story I had to revise something like 11 times, because I KEPT FINDING two-syllable words. Also, I couldn't come up with a monosyllabic "mammoth", so I rationalized it by deciding "it's such a big animal, it needs a bigger word!"

but it makes the story very simple and honest, I think :D

I would LOVE to see it for some SW! (I assume that is Star Wars? Or am I totally missing that?)
