First Strawberries of the Season

Jun 26, 2011 13:35

I am eating my first strawberries of the season. It's been a crummy spring here in Seattle, so they're late (as usual--a couple of years back the Strawberry Festival actually had to ship in strawberries from California, since the locals weren't ready yet). Better late than never, of course, and this American is now going to take the chance to once ( Read more... )

STRAWBERRIES!!!! *dives into whipcream and strawberry pile*

though i've been eating peaches all weekend. *drools peach juice* and any vehicle without the rebel flag, the #3, or screaming children hanging out the truck bed sounds like total win to me right now.

Strawberries absolutely have to be local (to wherever you are!)
I grow some that are supposedly an old variety from Brittany that are too soft to be commercially viable and they are AWESOME. If you ever come to Cornwall in the spring you will have to try some and compare!

Sorry to hear about the strawberry farmers that lost their lands: I'd not heard of that before. :-(

Actually the whole history of Seattle is depressing if looked at from anything other than a white settler standpoint. I know every place has that but ours is effectively within living memory, which makes it extra unpleasant.

Are there still strawberries in July? Believe it or not, I'm going to be there next July. The plans, they are in progress...

Are you really? Good grief! What brings you to our distant land of fog and mists? :-D

July is a bit late for strawberries here really and a little early for the apples. You'll have to survive on unhealthy food like pasties & scones. :-P NOM.

OMG, I saw a Nissan Cube the other day and the sheer hideousness of it literally made me jump backwards and almost be killed by traffic. And I used to drive an Impreza so kind of used to fugly cars.

Have a nice Volkswagen Karmann Ghia to take away the memory.

OH NOM NOM STRAWBERRIES. I haven't had any yet this year because it's still a little early for strawberries here sadly.

Also I really want that car now. No matter how ugly it is.
