Mrc and Esc wake in their small cave when the sun comes up. They both want food, but all Mrc finds is old meat. It smells.

“Esc, no food.”

“That is bad,” Esc says. “We will hunt!”

Hi, here via motetus"'s link and oh boy, the You Tarzan, Me Jane (or was the style the old Dick and Jane schoolbooks?) premise is one of the best! Mrc and Esc probably did a cave painting of their lives ... someplace like Lescaux? Anyway, great story!

I loved Cat so much too! It was Motetus' sabre-tooth kitten with the stick that touched this all off.

Her sabre-tooth kitten was ADORABLE! I don't know if I want to play with it with yarn or run and hide from it. No wonder Mrc got his poor wee hand bitten!
