Chapter 1 -- Job Hunting Chapter

[pen taps]

No matter how much I try, it doesn't make any sense. How could someone bring all these people here and wipe their memories just like that? Well no...it doesn't matter so much of how they did it, but why they went through the trouble.

There has to be some kind of explanation for this. I guess I'll just have to wait longer before I can find ( Read more... )

Hey, June. I'm Truth- I'm one of the greeters here, and I work as a medic.

Do you have anything you might be good at?

I wish I knew, but I still can't remember. I'm keeping my mind open for now.

[...] What's it like to be a medic?

It's pretty stressful sometimes. I mean, we only have a few healers, so the rest of us have to do what we can for the patients. I've had people die on me before.

Ah, I see what you mean. You would have to be pretty dedicated to deal with problems like that.

I appreciate you and the others for working in such a job, but I, personally, will probably try finding something a bit more low-key in the stress factor.

Hello, June. Welcome to Edensphere.

If you're not the fighting sort, I suggest seeing if anybody at the Marketplace will have you. Me, I work at Smoke's bar. The name's Grift.

Thank you!

I don't think fighting would be safe for someone like me~ [not that she couldn't if she wanted to] The Marketplace seems to be a very popular place so far.

Smoke's bar? I might drop by later if I have the chance.

Not a problem, Miss June. I must say, I'm not one for fighting either.

Do drop by. And ask for Grift. I see to it that our humble newborns get a free drink.

I'm sure they are noble jobs, but I'll save them for those more suited for battle.

Quite the gentleman aren't you, Mr. Grift? Thanks, that's very kind of you.

Hey, June. That's a lovely name, by the way.

I'm Derrick and I make journals. I also write books, but that's 'cause I know I was a writer in my past life. Or I was if my dream's not a big liar, anyway.

Why thank you~

Well, if your instincts say so, there shouldn't be a problem with that. It probably won't matter too much anyway, as long as you enjoy it.

So you're one of the people that make these strange, magical journals, huh?

Yeah, it just seems RIGHT to me. So I'm guessing my dream was right after all.

Yes indeed, I do. Unfortunately, doesn't give me much insight into how they actually WORK, mind.

Yup! If that's true, then there's no need to doubt it!

Ah, shame. This whole place just seems to be one giant mystery when it comes to how everything works.

Hello June. I'm Rogue.[As often, he keeps himself from writing 'Leader' after it.]

The job you take really depends on what you think you can stand. Being a Scavenger works for me, because I'd prefer to avoid a lot of routine or anything too repetitive. It's somewhat dangerous and not exactly covered in glory, but I don't have a problem with that.

If you realize that you hate something, you can switch jobs.

I'd probably hate it too if things get too routine, but word around here has it that this world has enough interesting events to help with that.

As long as you're doing well with the job, there shouldn't be a problem. Me, I'd prefer to keep my hands from dirtying too much.

That's good keep that in mind, thank you.

Hey there, June. The name's Gene.

Like I said to one of the other newbies here, keeping a list of the available jobs and walking around to see what suits may help. I don't know what the available jobs are, but they're usually posted by the Hall of Beginnings.

Ah, thank you. I was just thinking about going for a walk, but keeping a list sounds like a pretty good idea too. I might drop by there to check again

Eh, just taking a walk for the sake of it couldn't hurt, either. You're new, so you've got time to shop around.

True. I guess it will be nice to take the opportunity while I have the chance. Is there anyplace in particular I should stop by, while I'm at it?
