OK, BREATHE! If it's to check on the condition of the place, he won't mind a little mess. You just have to reduce it to a "little mess." Have a cleanig "party" and delegate rolls, like you wash the dishes and Nick picks up the trash.

(You could store extra junk in your cars.)

I think I speak for all when I say, "Oy vay". Do you have a snow shovel? Those can come in handy when the crud in question is movable in piles.
