The Republican party's budget... uh... blueprint of a blueprint of a budget is going a long way towards cheering me up at the end of a hard week

Yep - the Republicans are the ones to get us out of this mess...freakinonbeaconMarch 27 2009, 06:52:32 UTC
So the Republicans had the last 28 years to create this economic nightmare with their half-brained economic theories, spent months last autumn dithering and dilly-dallying when it became obvious their theories were crashing down around them, and now suddenly they're the experts with the answers to how to solve the problem? Must be the biggest miracle this side of the Loaves and Fishes.
The Republicans' problem is not just that they don't have the answers, it's that they WANT Obama's proposals to FAIL, even if that means the country goes down the tube. Talk about cutting out your eyes to spite your face. That's not just bitter apples, friends. That's certifiable craziness, and they should immediately be put into reality therapy.

Hi demoneater, I'm just an average guy, 60-year old male, living in Seattle on what passes as disability "income" in an expensive city. I was an accountant and a church musician, playing piano and pipe organ. Now I just do substituting on organ occasionally. Sorry I haven't fleshed out my profile or started a journal yet. Have been both ill and busy.
When I first joined LiveJournal, I thought this was a Seattle-only journal site, where my user name would make sense. I live on Beacon Hill, just south of downtown Seattle.
Since you live in Bloomington, I assume your "recent" post about the opera was referring to Indiana University, one of the best universities anywhere for music study. The opera you referred to about Cinderella - who is the composer?

An unspoken part of my question was wondering where you came across my journal, since I don't think we're members of any of the same communities, so it was puzzling to get a comment from someone I didn't know.
Don't fret the username. It's just fine, plenty of worse out there for certain. My own is one I wish I could get rid of; I picked it up playing DOOM online when I was a teenager, people on the internet got to know me by it, and I haven't thought of anything better - not that most of my friends would let me just up and change my "name" by now.
That's kind of a small world that you're in Beacon Hill, though, I have a friend who lives there as well. I hear it's pretty awesome.
And yeah, I was referring to the IU Opera - it's just about the best opera school in the nation, I really enjoy being able to go to their productions at least once or twice a year. Cendrillon's composer was Jules Massenet.
Boehner and Pence, on the other hand, waved it around and said "Obama said we haven't seen a budget yet of the Republicans. Well, it's not true, because here it is Mr. President."
Of course they said specifics would be coming next week, but that "understand that a budget really is a one-page document. It's just a bunch of numbers".
I just found the whole thing highly ridiculous and entertaining.
