A note about 9/11

Sep 11, 2007 21:46

I want to take a moment to speak about the fact that it is, in fact, September 11th.  Different people have different reactions to the day itself.  People who knew people that died that day hold it in memory, as a day of grief.  Other people hold onto a fear and sadness associated with the day itself ( Read more... )

I moved on two years after it happened. Sure, it was a terrible event... doesn't change the fact that we can't go back and stop it from happening. But the thing that really grinds my gears about it is that there are worse tragedies suffered around the world, yet they seem to move on and rebuild themselves. America tries to play on the sympathy of 9/11 too much and it gets really fucking old.

I agree. 9/11 is a distraction from other grave tragedies, and it saddens me that this horrible event is being cheapened so.

And I was almost hoping for the offended "OMG I'LL NEVER GET OVER 9/11!" posts so I could laugh at them.

Huh. I think I may have scared most of the brainless people from reading my journal. Either that or they tend to just refrain from commenting since they tend to come away from the arguments licking their wounds and whining about their shattered pride.

...damn I'm in a mood tonight.

i agree as well. it's hard to believe it's been 6 years...but, i have moved on. probably faster than most, it was a day of sadness and i felt for the people who lost there family's and freinds that day...but, i can't live in fear. i moved on. it doesn't mean i don't care or am being a bad person. it's just what good is it to linger on things that can't be changed? i choose to live life, not fear it :)

Hurray for another person who not only realizes how I feel, but feels the same way.

On a side note, I was kinda waiting to be lynched and it never happened. I think it's 'cause I moved, and people don't know where I live anymore. Bwahahaha!

Oh yeah, and I agree with everything else you said, I just didn't feel like repeating it in my own words to prove that I agreed/understood.

I mean, OMG I'LL NEVER GET OVER 9/11!
