Looking at the paper, I see an announcement that Sir David Willcocks has died, aged 95. Which didn't ring any particular bells until I read the byline which noted he had been one of the editors of Carols for Choirs. Ah. *And* that he wrote the descants to carols such as O Come All Ye Faithful and Hark the Herald Angels Sing.

Very sad news, I met him a couple of times when he was a guest conductor at the Cambridge Schools Holiday orchestra.
