does the weird white growth smell like rotten arse? If it does it could be tonsiloliths, which are in themselves harmless except for causing some irritation.

I wouldn't stress too much with the self diagnosis.

Sorry to hear it. I've seen the same thing and am impressed by your ability to scrape off your tonsils - most people can't suppress their gag reflex that much. Hmmm... ;) *naughty thought* Never mind...
Anyway, I hope you get to feeling well. I'm sure that your relationship woes have impacted your health and tonsilitis is never fun - I had it when I was in college (and you were in diapers, probably ;) and it was NOT an enjoyable experience.
Hope you get better soon. I'm sending some virtual chicken soup your way, but wish it were the real thing. *HUG*

I actually don't have much of a gag reflex.

You know that feeling you get when you're really sick and throwing up would actually make your stomach feel happy? I think I've felt like that twice in the recent past, but I can never get a gag reflex to kick in. :(

As for the throwing up to feel better, I've been there about twice in my life. And, amazingly, I did when I did. :)
