[Barton is a bit on the cranky side, for good reason, but is out looking for anyone she knows. Mostly Mao and Firo. When she hears her name being called, she's surprised.]

Hey! Over here. Mao?

[He blinks, then turns around before rushing on over.]

Barton! Jeez, what the hell's going on? [Kind of already obvious, but he's got to make sure.]

[She looks around at the scenery, then at him, as if this answer was clear.] What do ya think? We've been attacked.

I know. I'm just surprised somebody actually did it. I'm impressed.

[He coughs for a moment.]

[Almaz was already running down the street towards Mao, it was the first place he went to after equipping the only things he had left, a long stick and a gun he had purchased from one of the stores a long time ago. He was surprised it had been left and wasn't melted away or something, but he had managed to find it in the wreckage.]

Mao! Mao! It's all my fault! it's because I didn't trusty their turkey!

[demonoaths]

Neither did I, but never mind that.

[He surveys his surroundings: wrecked, destroyed buildings everywhere, while corpses of drones litter the place. Then he says, more to himself than to Almaz,]

I don't know, but I bet it's going to be bad. I've never seen it like this before.

[demonoaths]

...hmph. Did you get any supplies? Like food, decent weapons, useful things.

[He heard the screams a block over and put some hustle into his step until he was full-on sprinting. Hal thanks his lucky stars he hadn't let himself go lazy since his arrival in the town.]

Mao?! Mao! Where- Mao! Are you all right? Are you hurt?

[Enjoy the older brother!style fussing, Mao.]

[Oh, jeez, stop fussing over him, he has a kitchen knife.]

Of course I'm fine! Where have you been?! Mayfield's a mess.

I've got other people to look after too, kiddo. [Hal shifts the bat bag over his shoulder.]

They dropped a nuke on us. The drones seem to have all died and people are regrouping. Is there anything you need?

A decent weapon and something to carry all the research material I've got left.

[His stomach rumbles, reminding him that he hasn't eaten anything since seeing the devastation around him.]
