Grace could tell it was a special day. Not only did the house smell really really good, but Mommy had dressed her in a really pretty dress too. And Daddy told her that both Dean AND Sammy were going to be coming over too

Zoe had no guilt whatsoever about dressing Grace up since she had both the chance and the excuse. Thanksgiving was still a fairly new holiday for her, but she was finding that she enjoyed it more and more every year, even with all the cooking. Thankfully, the food was almost done, and she was just putting the finishing touches on things as she peered out of the kitchen to make sure Grace was still occupied.
"It would have been fun to watch them dress up," Zoe admitted. "But I'm perfectly happy with just Grace. It'll only be a matter of time before she knows enough words to say no when I try to make her look cute."
As much as Sam wished Peter could have stayed here for Thanksgiving, the lack of boyfriend was not going to get him down today. He was going to be spending a family-oriented holiday with his family in their family home, and no, that wasn't going to get old any time soon. He was all smiles as he got to the door and knocked.
Figuring that everyone was in the kitchen, Sam went ahead and opened the door, letting himself inside and grinning when he saw Grace. "Hey you!" he said, crouching down. "Don't you look pretty today."
Dean would never admit it to anyone, but the whole have family dinner at the family house thing was really all he needed from any holiday. He was a little bummed some people he considered as close as family weren't able to make it, but knowing they were safe went a long way to muting any disappointment.
Besides, just the mental image of Bobby and Alec doing Thanksgiving together was enough to start Dean snickering.
He knocked on the door, then opened it and stuck his head inside. "Anybody home?"
Zoe almost missed the knock, but Grace's squeal was enough to alert her to the fact that someone else was at the door. "Dean, hi," she said, coming out of the kitchen. "Happy Thanksgiving."
"Same to you," Dean replied, bending down to big up his little sister who had attached herself to his legs. "And aren't you the pretty one today?" he said to her.
Alice had settled on bringing a pie. It seemed rude to arrive without anything at all. Then again, it might be seen as rude to bring one, as if she was implying that whatever pies they might or might not have would be insufficient somehow, or if, heaven forbid, she chose a flavor that someone despised or was deathly allergic to. And that was when Alice realized she was far overthinking the matter, and she would bring an apple pie and hope it was received in much the manner it was intended.
She knocked hesitantly and instructed herself very firmly not to fidget.
Dean had been keeping an ear out for the door, so he was the one to answer it. "Hey," he said, stepping back to give Alice room to enter. "Glad you could make it!"
"I wouldn't have missed it," Alice said, holding out the pie and bobbing a very abbreviated curtsy. "Thank you ever so much for having me. Oh, my heaven, something smells amazing."
