"I'll come out soon enough, Blake~ Best be prepared!"
Blake's eyes opened in surprise and he sat up, running a hand over his face. His eyes roamed over the room, landing on a crib in the corner of the room before landing on the other redhead that's lying in bed with him. The demon relaxed slightly, lifting a hand to gently brush the angel's bangs away from his face, causing the other to stir. Blake froze, waiting to see if the other redhead woke up. Though, when he didn't, the demon slumped in relief. He casted a glance out of the window, noting how the moon was high in the sky, realizing that it was late at the moment.
"Do you think you can protect them forever?"
"Blake, what's wrong?"
The demon stiffened a bit before looking down at the angel, seeing his companion looking back at him. Blake sighed a little, turning his head to look out the window.
He replied, "Nothing. Just a bad dream."
"Right, just a bad dream," the angel retorted as he sat up, stretching. He gave the other a look. "What's wrong?"
Blake chuckled, resting his head on the angel's shoulder. The angel blinked at him in surprise but didn't push him away.
"Like I said, just a bad dream. Go back t' sleep."
Lavi huffed, giving the demon a look of disbelief. "You do know I don't believe you, right?"
The demon smiled a bit, pressing a kiss against the angel's neck. The angel blushed, sputtering a bit while Blake pulled back, a grin on his face.
"B-Blake!"
"Shh, ya don't wanna wake Avari up, d'ya?" the demon asked, placing a finger over his lips as he continued to grin at the angel.
Lavi blushed, stammering before finally giving up and laid down again, placing a pillow over his head. Blake released a soft laugh, lying back down. He turned to the side, feigning sleep although he knew that the angel was still looking at him curiously. Though, when he finally heard the angel fall asleep, Blake opened his eyes, a frown upon his face. He quietly got up, grabbing a paper and pencil. The redhead sent the angel a wary glance back to make sure he was still sleeping before beginning to write. When he was finished, the demon put on a shirt, glancing over at the angel before looking over to Avari's crib.
His eyes saddened for a moment. Then, he shook his head, releasing a soundless sigh.
"Can you really hope to protect them?"
Blake snorted, and with one last glance back at the two people who became important to him. Taking a deep breath, he vanished from the room.
On the note behind, it said:
Sorry for leaving without a word, but there was something I had to do. For now, just please take care of Avari.
I don't know when I'll be able to come back and this may be the last time you'll hear from me for a while.
