The song that Gwyneth Paltrow turns down while Robert Downey, Jr. is listening to it in the garage is Institutionalized by Suicidal Tendencies, and it's AWESOME.
heh... ya know, a lot of folks didn't know if Robert Downey, Jr. could play a comic book character. To them, I point to the early 80's "Demon in a Bottle" storyline...
I read a really touching interview with Robert Downey, Jr. about his recovery from drug addiction, and how excited he was to look at the Iron Man movie poster with his son and be like, look! I'm playing a superhero!
Tony Stark was the first major superhero to have to deal with substance abuse issues as an alcoholic in his own series (Speedy, the sidekick of Green Arrow had a heroin addiction ten years prior, but was a secondary character). I think that this was part of the selection process for getting RDJ to play Stark, to be perfectly honest. The actor has been there before, and served the jail time to prove it. Besides, the reason that Rhodey gets to be the second Iron Man? Tony was in Betty Ford at the time.
It's cool that RDJ has recovered and is able to connect w/ his son tho.
All I wanted was a Pepsi! Just one Pepsi!sidhedevilMay 9 2008, 12:35:30 UTC
OMG, I totally dorked out in my seat when I heard that at the theater! And Rojir, who knows me all too well, looked over at me with a grin as soon as it started playing and patted my hand.
I <3 ST. I need to make it over to Mike Muir's blog more often. :)
Yeah, I so can't remember the song. But I generally was pleased with all the songs, I just don't know what it sounds like. I wanna hear it again. I guess I need the soundtrack.
