I was just watching the episode of "I Love Lucy" where the Ricardos & the Mertzes were visiting Paris on Ricky's European tour ("Paris At Last"). Aren't the French using Euros now? I'm not sure it's really an apples-to-apples comparison, although I am sure the dollar is vastly weaker now than in 1956, when Europe was really still just starting to recover from the war.

The obvious continued weakness of the dollar nowithstanding, I am embarrassed to say that I am just learning about the demise of the French Franc a few years too late. Se reposer dans la paix, mon ami!

Thanks for the perspective.

I also guess that the next time I watch "I Love Lucy" I just shouldn't be trying to think so hard. It's not what I'm best at anyway!
