What would you do...

if some pants you recently bought - that fit perfectly when you put them on - had by the end of the day (the first day wearing them) stretched out so much that you spent practically the entire afternoon and evening hiking them back up ( Read more... )

I would bring the pants back and just explain politely what happened with them. You could ask if there is anything you can do to permanently shrink them back to the way they were when you bought them. If they can't give you any advice, then you have every right to return them for store credit or refund because the product wasn't able to stay in the condition you bought it in. It doesn't make sense to keep pants that aren't going to fit you beyond the first day!

i may try washing and drying them first...that way i will have tried everything i can possibly try before going in. ugh, it just makes me feel like some sort of scammer being like "hey, yeah, i bought these and wore them and now i don't want them!" but it was really ridiculous!

what sucks even more is that i bought another pair (in a different style) that is also freaking awesome, and now i'm just kinda wearing it around the house (it's like a giant dressing room! it's not like i'm really wearing them out!)hoping that they won't stretch out, too. they fit so perfectly, but now i'm wondering if i should have bought them a size smaller :(

haha totally understandable!

I'm not sure if you will still be able to return them if you wash and dry them, but hopefully it was just that one pair that were defective. Good luck with it. :)

Are they maternity or regular?

maternity...from gap. i've had tons of gap jeans before, and none of them stretched out this badly. i mean, they're gap, so they've all stretched out some...but not so much that i pretty much had to yank them up every 5 seconds!

Yeah..I guess they were a little too accommodating. I'd take them back as well, unless you think you'll get big enough for them to stay put. But I really have no idea how maternity pants work; it may be more complicated than I think :P

I'd definitely bring 'em back and explain the situation. Wearing + returning is usually bad, naughty, rude, etc., but IMHO this is a special situation and no different than asking for a refund on any other defective product.

just hopping and skipping around from journal to journal and saw this.

i have been having the same problem with old navy jeans, and they are under the same brand umbrella as gap now. i hate to return anything ever, so i'll probably just suck it up and keep them and know i can only get one day's worth of wearing out of them before washing again (i'm a personal cleanliness nut and bathe 2 times a day, so i usually can wear pants 2-3 days before rewashing), which kind of sucks for time management and saving of water/laundry detergent.

if you got any good tips on keeping them true to size, please share!
