First off, thank you guys for responding to my ISO question. I definitely want to learn more about photography and such. How many of you edit your photos? I should probably learn more about editing too, haha. Ugh, photoshop confuddles me. :P ( Read more... )

I use adobe lightroom, I don't edit photos at all in photoshop. Lightroom is made specifically for photos. It keeps them organized and it edits photos non-obstructively. So it doesn't ruin the originals and you can always re-do the editing, if that makes sense?

Since photos with the same light conditions normally need the same editing, I edit one photo to get the color or affect I want, then I can copy and paste the same settings to my other photos and save them in web format all in less than a minute. Its so optimized for me I wouldn't use anything else. ^^;;

With photoshop you are pretty much limited to levels and curves and those sorts of things? I couldn't even tell you how to work those... I used to just tinker with them till it looked ok but even then its hard to tell if its natural looking or too much x_x

I've never used Lightroom, but it sounds like you're doing all the same things I would do in PS, just in a different format? B/c PS doesn't write over originals unless you tell it to. And you can copy and paste layer styles, as well as saving entire groups of actions for later use (I have a few things I always do to my photos, and now that I've set my preferences I just have to go in, select the photo size I'm working with and hit 'play').

instead of actions there are presets (a lot of sites to download them from, free as well). Instead of actions, its just a one-click thing and they are tons of options you can change even from a preset, PS just doesn't have that level of customizing of just a photo. I mean obviously they are made from the same company and if you know how to use photoshop well (I've been using it for ten years) then you can do all the same things. But trust me it takes a LOT longer.

In LR there is no "psd" file to save, and it just saves as you go. Once you edit the original it saves everything you've done so far on its own. Saving an exporting files is a lot better. You can even export the files into a gallery. It does all the coding and html files on its own.

I got it really cheap with student discount as well, wayyy less than PS and it does so much more for photos if thats your focus and you had to buy something cheaper than I'd swear hands down its better. ^^;;

yea,its hard to wait
I hope Arcadia comes thru for you,they had a bad spot a while ago where they were not producing very fast,so keep on them with email if time starts to go by,it looks like they have alot more stock on their site but I waited almost a year for a fashion from them before...they may have more seamstresses helping them now

there are always killer fashions on etsy too btw, that are so tempting haha

I'll bet that souldoll fashion will be awesome,I have a souldoll and can't find a Souldoll fashion for him very easy because people keep the clothes and hardly ever sell them
hopefully all of your stuff will get here for some awesome photo themes,Valentines day will be a big photo theme

Photoshop is a bitch to learn, but once you've got the basics down it is INDESPENSIBLE. =D There isn't a photo on this earth that couldn't benefit from some color correction and unsharp mask! ♥♥♥'s for it!

Man, you're in acquisition overdrive! Can't wait to see how it all comes together!

Photoshop isn't too hard, but if you want a good editing program I suggest Lightroom. It's specifically just for photos (as stated above) without the extra design tools that you wouldn't necessarily be using all the time.
I'll be completely honest the most I do to any of my pictures is contrast, levels, brightness/contrast, hue/saturation, and depending on the image I'll use the sharpen tool. And, I'm a lazy butt so half the time I am using the "Auto" option instead of being assed to go in and do it manually xD!
But if you can get Lightroom I definitely suggest it. I plan on picking it up soon myself soon :)
