Dear Barbara,
Today is the one year anniversary of your passing. I wanted to say hello and tell you that I miss you. My baby is beautiful and you would have loved him and Kasey very much. Also, thank you for keeping your wedding rings in such nice condition. After Grandpa gave them to me, I had a friend take them to the diamond exchange in San Fran and touch them up a little bit...Grandpa admires their beauty as do I. Thank you for being there for me for all those years and for my mom for so many more years, through so many tough times for her. She is doing her best to return the favor and is really trying to help grandpa out during his tougher times. Did you hear about his new car? It's really nice! Kind of funny to think that Jack is going through a late-mid-life crisis...but he'll do whatever he needs to in order to get through this all.
Things for me are going pretty well. With the marriage and the baby, I have had little time to do much of anything but change diapers and try (though futile) to keep my house clean. I'm enrolled in school again and am taking business, psychology, and history classes right now. I would have preferred a creative writing class to use my imagination a little more, but they aren't offered any night oher than Friday...and there's no way I'm giving up 5 nights a week for school; I'd much rather change a diaper than take a class on Friday night! You know me, some things never change.
Kasey is doing a great job of staying at home and taking care of Dominic. She gets cabin fever almost everyday, but she enjoys the freedom of not having to go to work and just takes real good care of baby D. I'll try my hardest to spoil him the way you did me; if not just to repay the favor than to follow your example.
Kasey's parents are such good grandparents! They have really taken me under their wing and treat me as their own son. You would have liked them too! Kasey's dad is good friends with one of the guys that used to play baseball with your boys. I can't remember his name; I think it's Jim for some reason (at the same time I'm pretty sure I'm wrong)...but he is really nice to me and had a blast at the wedding.
I'm sure I could write end-lessly to you about all the things that are happening, but the powers that be probably want me to get back to work. I'm doing a great job for the bank and was employee of the month for July. I've yet to receive the award, as they are handed out on a quarterly basis, but I did already see the plaque! I miss you and I love you and trust that you played a big part in the blessing that has become my son and family. I will never forget the things that you did for me and provided for me. I love you.
~Dennis
