"The Opioid laws stipulate "intractable pain". Not "only for cancer". This is to prevent people from getting Hillbilly Heroin for minor aches and pains...and then selling them to addicts. The doctor must certify that the patient's pain is "intractable". In fact, under the law, having cancer alone is not grounds for getting a prescription."
yes, but the stuff from the MEDICAL BOARD is even more strict. only those w/ intractible pain AND cancer can have meds for "breakthrough" pain.... or be on more than one narcotic. even if it isn't for breakthrough pain.
Is there a link to the Medical Board's regs or rules or whatever that I can post? I'd like to be able to show people that it really is that bad, instead of have everyone pointing out that the law says anyone with intractable pain can get the meds.
i haven't found it. there was a copy of the minutes given to us, a print out - but they don't have anything substantive!
just - i can tell you what i was told they said TO my pain management doc - i did, in the post - but i can't find ANYTHING online about Ohio's med board

Reading up on it there seems to be some confusion: http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/news/local/doctors-say-new-pill-law-keeps-some-patients-in-pa/nNpZP/
This is confusing in its wording: http://www.medscape.com/resource/opioid/opioid-ohio
Intractable pain would seem to apply.
IDK what the solution is--other docs may find ways around this. Is it feasible to move out of state? Preferably a state offering medical marijuana!
