Well, one of the things that I think is really lovely about you is that, when our paths cross (or run parallel) you will always v cheerily call out hello and cross the road to have a genuine and warm, friendly catch-up!
Maybe you don't recognise or remember compliments rather than not get any? I know that Dave, Karl and I have each complimented you before on things like your wit, your amazing trivia knowledge and your musical tastes. And I tell other people how great you are for getting bits of my shopping for me when you go to Sainsbury's, although you're not supposed to know that.
(Forgive the delay in replying - it was a long post that took a while to read!)
yeah, its the psychology probably. stuff like music or trivia i regard as being trifling enough not to see as a real compliment. and we're british, we don't naturally dish up compliments (plenty of times i should too).
but primarily, i believe that to some extent other people must see me how i do, because without grounds for it, why would i think it anyway? so anything nice dished out would tend to be dwarfed by what i think that they really think.
in other words, the answer to nr 42 is really "i think i don't, but objectively i can't tell"
