i found the same thing. i told you about the "ok, now fall!" "no!" story. but first time i led with a co-worker (who learned to lead the weekend after i did) no problem. still not as easy as falling on tr, but no outright refusals. ;)
I still don't boulder, it doesn't get you far enough from the ground to trigger my fear of heights, so it doesn't have the secondary purpose of working on eliminating that.
Still, I may do it occasionally just to hone my climbing skills, but since it doesn't require a partner it's sort of boring.
actually, bouldering is generally way more social. people are always watching each other, asking about problems, getting technique advice, and just generally chatting. since you're in a crowded area and your atention isn't fixed on your belaying, it really lends itself to socializing.
I was just thinking on the way to work today that I need to check out the rates and go get retested so I can join you. Do I have to bring a buddy the first time?
I always plan to go with someone, sometimes you can find a pick-up partner, but I don't recommend it. There are lots of people at the club who climb, that silly long-haired guy for instance...
Oh, I'd like to (I really, really want to lead again, though I also need to get in some good toproping for league) but I'm making dinner for Arlene, Hideki, and Sophia Tuesday night.
Will you be around Wednesday night (day before Thanksgiving...) ? I will be possibly the worst conversationalist ever, but will be much in need of climbing, it's D-day.
Alternatively, I'll find some way to drink with a friend until I fall down. Climbing would be better for me though.
Hm. I was thinking to go to aerials next Wednesday because I don't have class, and I haven't been able to go in months. I'd have no problems with your conversation and would be happy to provide distraction, but I need to think on the other plan and get back to you. If you want to make other plans in the meantime, though, I totally understand.
